I have never carried a hanky - hate the idea of a pocket full of snot. Besides, being an adept at the art of shooting snotrockets I don't need a receptacle for my nasal exudates, just discharge them into the ether.

Having been in the situation of having immediate need to feed the porcelain pony with none available my solution was to cut my boxer shorts off for wiping material and go commando for a while.
Also note that such action may be required to deal with a shart post facto.
Actually I do carry a bandana for general purposes, I just don't use it as a snot receptacle, or to wipe with. Now there's something you wouldn't want to put back in your pocket!
