Yes, the abbreviation of the state will work. From the NFA Handbook:

The city and State (or recognized abbreviation) where the manufacturer maintains its place of business.

The state name is just about the only thing that you can abbreviate when it comes to NFA items.

Somewhere on the frame, receiver or barrel (s). You can use OR. Better if it can be seen directly. At least 1/16th inch high. At least .007 or so deep. You can highlight with light color paint.
