I had a query for specs on an item I have up for sale in the non firearm ads. Since I was not home, I decided to look it up on the internet to expedite their request. Low and behold there was my ad from NWFA, which I was not happy to see. I realize little is private any more; I don't intentionally reach out beyond my comfort zone very far. I do not participate in any of the internet social media and so far shunned Craig's list and other internet selling formats.
Through lack of forethought, and quite possibly selfishness, I have become comfortable with the eclectic sort here @ NWFA and wish the site success increasing membership albeit only on the existing regional scale, which ultimately helps all of us out when selling.
It is becoming overwhelmingly apparent I may have entered the lair unprepared and quite possibly with the same check out rules as the hotel California.
Of course I realize the forum itself is open to whoever seeks similar venues out on the internet and thereby, by extension, my ad also, but I apparently, naively believed nonmembers must navigate a labyrinth of levels and then stumble upon my ads which I was reluctant to tolerate.
I'm assuming then, along with my ads, every written word intended for NFWA pier's, including this, may also be separately indexed and perused by the rest of the world without directly entering the NFWA forum.
Is this the progress of man to walk naked in the universe or is it still possible to benefit from the power and knowledge of the internet whilst living relatively secluded within a local, regional community?
Whether the increased exposure is intentional or accidental, is there no way to individually opt of automatic exposure beyond the forum? (other than NFWA abstinence.)
