Oregon State Office building in Portland near the Lloyd Center...

has always made me think of this photo of Hiroshima.

My own anecdote is not about Hiroshima per se, but in 1996, I drove from Sasebo Japan to Nagasaki with some friends. Visited Peace Park at ground zero, toured the museum and photographed the harbor from the skyline. One of my buddies (also American) visited his Japanese girlfriend in a hospital there. She avoided some probable drama with her much older roommates, telling them he was Dutch.
