I'm looking for a 9mm compact 1911 for concealed carry. My wife has a Springfield compact 1911 but it still is a bit heavy for her to carry so she packs a NAA 22 magnum in her purse. I've been looking at the Colt New Agent and the Springfield EMP. Have never handled either one and have not even seen one at a gun show. I've noticed that the ones for sale on Gunbroker are not selling. The prices are pretty high for these, especially the EMP. Also would like to hear some thoughts on the Colt's trench sight. Any input is appreciated....Thanks

I tried the EMP, 9mm still seems to bite harder than it should be. Gun is much more accurate than I am so I can't common on that. The Marksman indoor range at Puyallup have a 9mm SA EMP for rent (free rental on Wednesday) if you want to try them.
Oh, and Champion Arms at Renton have a STI Escort 9mm for rent (free rental on Wednesday, too).

While we are talking about conceal 9mm... check out Kimber Solo Carry...MSRP $725, Marksman list them for $650.

Trench sight on the new agent is odd at first but I really like it. Instead of having a dot or front sight post on your target you just look at it. Also you never have to worry about snagging your sights on anything. Springfield EMP is slick and I love the feel of it but both of these guns are pricey at around $1000

Thanks everyone for the input! The Springfield she has is, I think, about the same size as the Kimber and Defender. Was leaning toward the New Agent and EMP because of the smaller size. It would be nice to find either or both of these and actually fire them. I'll keep hunting!

Zastava M88, it's a 9mm that's based on the Tokarev, which in turn is quite 1911-esque. It's way cheaper without skimping on durability or reliability, and has far more cool factor than anything listed above.

While Tokarevs are in fact different, durable & reliable, they are not 1911s and can hardly be considered cool.

Unless you're something other than a total square.

I do like the hot 7.62x25 round & enjoy shooting my flame throwing CZ52. I would like to pick up a Polish or Yugo Toke for my collection. That said, I don't think they would win any beauty contests. They are built tough like a Russian tractor or a (former) East German Woman's swim team member.

Remember that the thread was really about 9mm compact 1911s, not Tokarevs.
