So barrels to one with a larger chamber wouldnt allow shooting of the larger shells if the gun came out of the factory with a 2 3/4 barrel?CHLChris is correct--very important thing to remember is that if you put a 3" barrel on a 2 3/4" chamber, only shoot 2 3/4" shells. I have an early 80s vintage Wingmaster and got an 18" slug barrel for it. Slug barrel is 3" and it works flawlessly with 2 3/4" slugs/buckshot.
Grinder <equals> faster <does-not-equal> better.
For opening an ejection port, grinder <equals> bubba, mill <equals> gunsmith.
I think the main concern was if the action in the receiver of an older gun originally in 2-3/4" would accommodate the extra 1/4" of a 3" shell when cycled.
I hear a cutting torch works WONDERS to enlarge ejection ports, ESPECIALLY on Mossbergs!
Its my understanding the position of the extractor on older gun can be a problem. My Mid 70's 870 Wingmaster will not function with the longer 3" shells and it has a 3" barrel on it at the moment.
