I wouldn't , how I read it was once it becomes a firearm it needs to have a serial # you definitely don't want to be caught with a non serialized weapon.

This does show a few great things.
1, taking any kind of legal advice off the net is fraught with risk. Since I first started playing on the net I have tried to warn people. Take legal advice from the net and end up in front of a Judge, they will care less who "told you" what you did was fine.
2, Asking people who "should know" also is often worthless. One agent says one thing, another says another. Get in front of a Judge they will again not care who told you what.
3, Often people are giving "good advice" for the place they happen to live. This does NOT mean it's the same where you live. When it comes to guns we see this a LOT with someone talking about some Federal law, that does NOT cover the state others live in. Always be careful, especially when it comes to gun law. If you take the wrong advice and end up in a jam, it can at best be hugely expensive to get yourself out.
