There are estimated to be somewhere north of 350 million guns in the hands of private citizens all around this country, IF guns were the issue, I think we would know about it! Seriously, With that many guns out there in the wilds is any on surprised that we don't have more problems? NO, we don't have problems because all the people that own all those guns are responsible law abiding people with only good in their hearts! Why is it that the PTB believe the only way to solve the issue of "Gun Violence" is to punish a large number of those 350 million guns owners for the actions of a very small number of bad people! Why must I bear the guilt and responsibility for something I had nothing to do with what so ever?

I often wonder why law abiding gun owners need to suffer the consequences of the actions of others.
I should not be held accountable for the mistakes of people who :
Miss the "red flags"
Fail to pass on information...
Mishandle a firearm...
Harm or kill someone with their firearm...

We are often told not to judge all who worship a certain way , how they look or who they love , where they live or work etc...by the actions of a few....
Yet when someone misuses a gun , all gun owners are somehow at fault.
Andy

Blaming a group for the actions of the individual is a stereotype which has been used for all sorts of civil rights violations through the ages.

They demonizing them with all X are Y so therefore they are scary and bad, and should be criminalized or penalized.

A collective afraid of something they don't understand, they push us into a category and marginalize us as the other that is not human, not as good as them and their collective. Moral superiority at it's finest.

I think I made it two minutes and knew I would want that time back.
It's the same rubbish as NPR: information redacted and focused for an audience that, while thinking itself intelligent, in reality is stupid for lapping up the misinformation.
Such rubbish is not news, it's propaganda.

Punishing the many for the actions of a few - isn't that a trait of socialism???

Hitler and Starlin would be all a flutter if they had the news media, or what passes for news media that we have today. Talk about a propaganda machine!!!

@nammac, well said. I do so wish the populace could see through this.
Unfortunately, folks under about the age of 50 have little clue about the atrocities that Hitler and Starlin exacted upon on the world. Especially upon the people's whom they had already disarmed... Nor how they managed the news to be what they wanted it to be...

Those who don't learn from history are destined to repeat it... And here we are...

60 mins compares apples to oranges with a false narrative as well as misleading information. Nothing new there. But did they ever answer their own question? It didn't reveal anything new. Did it even mention 5.56 or .223? I just heard AR15 bullet.

These articles usually focus on weapon of choice instead of target of choice. Logic should lead to a conclusion if you can't control one try to control the other. Mass shooters when confronted with any armed opostion either kill themselves or surrender. Shooting it out with the police or anyone for that matter is rare. I only recall the San Bernardino terrorist doing it.

Can't watch it, won't watch it. I already know the type of garbage they're spewing. Just like much of the MSM, 60 Minutes is just another DNC, Anti-Gun mouthpiece, doing their best to convince another generation of Americans to hand any and all rights over to the government.

I seriously doubt any great number of people will be/have been influenced by this story. It's just more playing to their base, helping further stoke their fears. As usual, they bypass the fact that more people are killed every year in America in auto accidents than are killed in gun homicides - but no weeping and wailing for those deaths. Never mind that more teens will die texting and driving than will ever die in gun violence. And let's ignore the fact (per the CDC itself) that 500,000+ people die in America, every year, due to tobacco related issues. They scream for change over 11,000 lives, but ignore 500,000.

It's never been about saving lives, never will be. This is propaganda, pure and simple. Our only hope is the next generation gets a better education from their families than the previous generations, and realize that the government is not their friend.

And, BTW, 60 minutes has more viewers than CNN, on average 8-14 million viewers every week. So yeah, a lot of people are seeing those stories. Don't fool yourself, they are getting the message out there. I just don't think they're changing many minds.

In my opinion, the goal is to disarm the people, so the intellectual socialist elite can operate freely without fear of retribution. I believe they want to fundamentally alter the country, in some very dramatic ways... It is not about protecting shopping malls or schools, it is about providing safe passage for their future plans. If they disarm us, they can avoid a Civil War.

Yup, I get tired of the snobbery of intellectuals. I have mentioned a buddy here that listens to NPR 24/7... I have forbidden him from talking to me about anything they say if he wants to stay my friend. He tells me I should listen, I might learn something from my betters.:mad:

A few weeks ago I was invited to have a beer with a small group after a choir concert. We were having a nice time when the convo switched to how wonderful it was to meet Merkely, who had been in town. Ok. Then the guy across from me opens with he wants to relay something he had heard on NPR... it was an ugly story and I stood up and said I had had enough. Not going to listen to that crapola!!!

MSM is not an arm of propaganda, it is the man behind the curtain, the hidden master leading the political parties by the nose. It is those people in Corporate MSM that sit at their office tables and decide what the country is going to be. We are on a train hurtling towards Euro style Socialism at best, oppressive Communism maybe. The UN demands that we disarm so the 3rd world countries can put our GDP to work for them. UN Agenda 2030: A Recipe for Global Socialism Send us your tired, your poor, your huddled masses... so we can become the huddled masses. "To envision the "new man" we must seek to be the "keepers of the flame burning brightly within the child, for one day it will light the destiny of the nation."

Thank gawd they didnt do thier gel test with one of my 55gr 4000fps .243 rounds it would have blown that chunk of goo all over the room. Or a hot round from a 30-06 (now 112 years old) same "Hi Velocity" as the .223 but nearly 3 times the bullet weight and energy.

Must be banned now!

I have seen a 130 grain Speer Hollow point from a 30-06 round blow a hole you could pass a softball through on the side of a 175lb Blacktail at 100 yards give or take. Not sure how much tumble but I can assure you there was separation of pieces and chunks of that bullet. And a 180grain Nosler Ballistic tip knock a full grown Bull Elk off its feet at 75 yards and that's a lot of critter.

As long as Murder is against the law does the manner and method make it any less of a crime?

Is the house wife who gets tired of being slapped around and feeds the hubby a plate of Rat Poison less guilty then the derrainged guy who walks into a night club with a gun? Both are premeditated Murder.

I'm waiting for the NRA or others to announce a legal challenge to 1639. This law essentially turned the 10/22 I have in my closet into an assault weapon, something that on the mere face of legal language is ridiculous. And it clearly places an undue burden on citizens without the monetary resources to pay for the every-five-year training the law requires and the additional fees of transfer and registration. Not to mention that it stands in clear violation of Article I, Section 24 of the Washington State Constitution. Even though the Washington courts have held that the right to bear arms is not absolute and is subject to reasonable regulation by the state under its police power and the Supreme Court of Washington has repeatedly rejected article I, § 24 challenges to state and local firearms regulations, 1639 clearly places undue monetary and other burdens on those who now cannot afford to even meet the law's requirements. The additional costs of safes, trigger locks, and other means of securing weapons as required in the statute does that. I have 25 firearms, not a lot compared to many people, but still a significant number. A scan of Amazon shows trigger locks running around $10 a pop. That's $250 merely to buy enough trigger locks to secure them all. Even a modest safe is going to run somebody $400 or more. $50 plus for a mere firearms transfer will be the low end of the price range as noted by someone earlier. It'll also put a huge dent in retail sales alone. So I'm hoping that it'll be dead before it hits the floor. The way things work, though, it may be a while down the road.

What frickin difference does it make? Sheesh, enough about the track in AR-15!!

Here's a hot tip, all guns kill, doesn't matter what it is, they all do the same thing!
Maybe we look at the mental health issues that should today, maybe we do something pro active about it and stop blaming the guns! Oh yea, we gotta take the guns so we can take over the world and don't want folks to defend themselves! My bad, I forgot the real truth for a second there!
I-1639 and Oregon'S SB719 look at mental health issues. We'll have to tread gently in that arena since much of the population could be labled as having mental health issues depending on who's accusing and who is judging.

So much effort against your rights and the weapon but zero acknowledgment towards the location. Where hasn't there been a mass attack per media standards that wasn't a gun free zone?

It seems they don't qualify family murder/suicides or gang shootings as mass shooting events even when they meet the standard. These usually don't involve ARs either or maybe no guns at all.

Lets see... a .223 goes 3100fps, and weights 55 grains, with what 1300psi hit power.

Wait till they see the 178gr A-max that flies out the 30-06 barrel at 2880fps, and hits about 3000psi

So anything over 2700psi is high velocity. So are just more than others

So when they take the pew-pews, we get to show them what high velocity is.
