MEXICO CITY (AP) — More than 54,000 Mexicans have signed a petition calling on the United States to take further steps to combat weapons trafficking.

Mexico says the majority of guns used by the country's violent drug cartels are smuggled over the border from the United States.

Mexico's best-known anti-violence activist and a prominent intellectual presented the petition at the U.S. embassy Monday.

Activist Javier Sicilia said "The United States is partly responsible for our humanitarian tragedy."

About 70,000 people have died in Mexico in drug violence since 2006, according to the written copy of a speech presented by Mexico's interior secretary in December.

Before the activists presented their petition, President Barack Obama said Monday he would present a new U.S. gun control plan within days.

Do they really think a petition would stop Fast & Furious?

If they are Mexican citizens signing the petition why should we pay any attention to them? Maybe they should mind their own business and get to the business of running the Mexican drug cartels out of business.

Well then the Mexicans should "take care" of the problem. I think we need a good house cleaning in Washington D.C.

Meh. It is difficult for Mexico to ignore US demands on drug fascism when the US regime threatens them with trade embargoes and other extremely harmful economic sanctions.

Back to OP, even if the petitioners are Mexican citizens whose opinions make no difference (not that our opinions matter either), it doesn't change the fact that F&F is a crime against both 2A advocates as well as Mexican civilians.

So, you agree, the US Federal Government IS the bad guy here.

I hardly care that a bunch of citizens from another country sign a petition regarding a constitutional right of citizens from a different country. However, I can not ignore the sad fact that the drug happy citizens of the US are the target market for the Mexican drug cartels.

... and the best way to do that would be to arm every law abiding citizen. A prime example down there of just how great 'gun control' really is for a nation.

Most of the weapons that drug dealers have don't come out of the US. South America is one of the largest suppliers of gun smugglers and dealers in the world!
Mexico won't show us all the guns that they get from the drug dealers to prove that they came from the US. They only showed a very small percentage, it's cause they want to help disarm us. Of the guns that they have showed us serial numbers on is a real small percentage. It's a sham. The Chinese will sell ak 47 or AR 15 knock offs to anybody that has cash.

I bet this sparks other countries to start their own "petitions," as if their voice matters. If you were another country, why wouldn't you want to disarm the world's greatest threat? And what if you were say..a cartel...wouldn't you want more guns off the streets your drugs are sold on too??

"About 70,000 people have died in Mexico in drug violence since 2006," says Yahoo. So responsible U.S. gun owners should have to pay for the corruptness of Mexico's own people? The cartels are going to get weapons wherever they're available. Here's a thought, get your government to arm every citizen to fight back the cartel. Hell...I think every American should walk around with a gun on their hip, I think it would deter a lot more crime!

The US federal government is wholly responsible for the Mexican drug wars.

And so if you leave your window open with a radio sitting right by it and some passing crook reaches in and steals your radio - its your fault isn't it - not the theives - right?

Mexico does not secure their border because they know they live in a s@#hole no one would want to go into.

You can just walk right across the border into Mexico and they don't bat an eye or care.

If they don't want guns from the US going into their country, they should secure their border the way we do trying to keep them out.
