This was a nice project of mine to get the perfect side charging ar9 that didn't send a rod toward your face, and with last round bolt hold open capability. This thing runs even steel case ammo very reliably. It does get dirty very fast (but that is pretty much all AR9's). I've refinished the charging rod and chamber to be very smooth and was going to de-grease and coat it with Teflon as a last step to make it smoother. Dings and scratches as I run my guns through training, but is very reliable. I am really happy with this build and don't want to get rid of this project but I need a shotgun for 3 gun.
