People never think they'll get caught. Fish and game is big bucks and you know .gov gets theirs one way or another.

Wow.... $86 dollar fine. That's WAY cheaper than a non-resident elk tag.

Q: Did they know that they were trespassing?

Was it during the season and they strayed off into a no hunting zone?

There is ample opportunity to hunt elk in a legal manner. I do not understand how anyone could find satisfaction in participating in an illegal hunt.

The state can also confiscate any equipment used to poach an elk. Including guns and vehicles.

“Poachers come from all walks of life but everyone is subject to the same rules and regulations. Colorado Parks and Wildlife will prosecute anyone to the full extent in cases like this one,” area wildlife manager JT Romatzke said in a news release."

Full extent my arse, someone or all in the party had an 'in' with someone. BS!

I am from New Mexico/Colorado. I have never seen a anyone convicted of poaching get off with such a light sentance.
Forfeiture of guns and vehicles is the norm in addition to a $5000 to $10,000 fine.:s0117:
