Beginner question here. Can .380 auto be fired out of a gun marked .380 ACP? Or vise versa? What is the difference in these two rounds? Thanks

Other names for the .380 ACP

    .380 Auto, 9mm Browning, 9mm Corto, 9mm Kurz, 9mm Short, and 9×17mm

It's no wonder folks get confused.

Thanks guys! So are any of those 9mm rounds a better defensive round for the .380, or do they have the same ballistics, just different names?

Same round, different names. I understand that the street thugs call it Baby 9.

.380 isn't my first choice for defense but when I do carry my p238, it's loaded with Buffalo Bore 100 gr lead hard cast +P.

I like the Federal Hydra Shock in mine... .380 not my first choice but my P238 disappears under a tucked in clingy polo shirt (work shirt) could never pull it off with my XDm and probably couldn't with an XDs...

A .380 is not my first choice either, but if you can't get it done with a .380, practice more.
