I had a Hawkeye African in 375. Loaded Hornady 300gr round nose and 270gr spire point, plus some 260gr Nosler Accubonds. Not sure what powder I used for the 300gr, but RL15 was the bomb for 260-270gr bullets. 2700fps with the 260 or 270 easily. The gun had a decent set of sights on it, but they lacked an elevation adjustment, which I would have preferred. Came with the Ruger rings. It also had a very nice piece of wood on it. I put a full length bedding block Hogue stock on it, which tamed down the recoil a bit cuz I didn't want to bang up the factory stock.
I noticed that the rifles I really liked aren't made anymore, but Ruger is still making Hawkeyes in 375 and that would be my choice.
