I tried one of those ARMS claw mounts on a HK91. Never could get it tight enough to hold zero.

Common issue with ARMS claw mount. Use Hk claw mount instead.I tried one of those ARMS claw mounts on a HK91. Never could get it tight enough to hold zero.
.308 piston "battle" rifles
Which would you have?
My favorite .308 piston "battle" rifles are the M14 / M1A.
I have M14s that are custom built by Smith Enterprise... that I modernized with light weight Blackfeather RS chassis stock systems. Here are my CQB-16 and M21-A5, they have barrels with a 1:10 ROT and both are chambered for M118-LR

Wow, lots of votes for the DSA FAL. Too bad I can't find them in stock anywhere except for the DSA website at full MSRP $$$. No thanks.
I would talk to @LuckySG for the FAL of your dreams, he is a DSA dealer and can get them when available!Wow, lots of votes for the DSA FAL. Too bad I can't find them in stock anywhere except for the DSA website at full MSRP $$$. No thanks.
I voted for the M1A/M14. It's simple, rugged, and accurate. I have a JRA M14 made with USGI parts. That rifle has scored more bullseyes than anything else in my safe.
I recently acquired a PTR/G3 Clone and I like the Length of Pull and I like how it points, but I'm still getting used to the rest of it. The ergos are a bit different.
It is very easy for me to work with DS Arms, they bend over backwards to make a build anyway you want and I am always happy to make deals so you have some room for extra goodies or pocked some cash for ammo.I would talk to @LuckySG for the FAL of your dreams, he is a DSA dealer and can get them when available!
Wouldn't mind getting another receiver set and doing up a nice slick Para build for my next project!
That, and I want to swap out my Standard Pattern furniture for the Pebble grain plastics with out the bi-pod cutouts, and the SAW pistol grip!
Make sure to use those savings to get mags, your going to want good mags to go with your new FAL, and DSA makes the best! Not cheap ( or cheaply made) , but not expensive! It is very easy for me to work with DS Arms, they bend over backwards to make a build anyway you want and I am always happy to make deals so you have some room for extra goodies or pocked some cash for ammo.
Two gripes about hk91 rifles:
1. Dont plan to reload the brass the 91.mangles the brass
2. That is a large piece of metal ( the bolt ) that slams back and forth that in my mind does not aid accuracy
I am also not a fan of the sheet metal receiver
