As far as their uses in a SHTF situation, even though everyone is saying .308 is cheaper, i'd think the longevity of the 30.06 round would make it WIDELY available to civilians, without having to interact with gov't personel or property. Growing up, i was familiar with 30.06, my family owned them and every hunter i knew shot one, but had never heard of a .308. I know nothing about ballistics or loading of the rounds, i'd just think the 30.06 would be more available. Thanks to you folks who are educated on the topic for taking the time to add your perspectives.
