I'm just so dang cheap these days I can't justify buying a 100 dollar geissele alignment rod.

Anyone got a 300 blk alignment rod I can borrow / rent / use real fast at your convenience?

  1. I agree to the classified rules and terms of service
They are only $50 from FCD. I paid $35 from Geissele...

If you don't like the price of a $50 alignment rod, you're really going to hate tbe expense of a baffle strike

35 from geissele? Try almost triple that bud. A simple check on their website will show you that.

I have 4 geissele alignment rods. I'm not buying another if I can avoid it. I have a dozen cans and never had a baffle strike because i always check alignment. That's why i made this post.

Thanks for your input.

If you have any slightly smaller than .30cal just use that and rotate in quadrents.

I only have a 9mm, 6.5, and 2 556 unfortunately. Maybe I can try with the 556
I would use the 6.5 that's .26cal. Test it several orientations and it will at least give you an idea.

I have always been one to just look down the barrel and eyeball it. Used to spend a bunch of time with my rods and I didn't learn anything I couldn't see as odd with the naked eye.

$77 is much closer to double, than triple but I digress.

Presidents Day is coming up soon and they generally go on sale for $35. I picked up three of them(grand total of $105) not too long ago l.

There are other options for less such as the carbon fiber rods from FCD that I previously mentioned. Geissele is not the only name in town.

Sporting Systems may still have some available for you to test it, but I doubt it since you can't even buy a muzzle device in WA.

what makes you think you can't buy a muzzle device in WA? You seem to be a true misinformation machine tonight.

Nah, didn't you read my signature?? I'm a certified internet expert.

I could very well be wrong about the muzzle devices. I would never consider living in WA, so that info came secondhand.

As far as what I've said regarding the alignment rods, none of that has been wrong.

You're wrong about the muzzle devices. You're wrong about the prices of alignment rods. You've been right about nothing. Thanks for your input on my classified post.

Funny I'm the same way with my range beater cans. It's funny how less willing you are to "eyeball" it as the price goes up. My sub 500 dollar cans "looks good from here, send it!". But on my more expensive cans I tend to try and check all boxes before I go for it.

I paid $35 from Geissele...
Here is the receipt from my geissele order. I do apologize, I was off by $2.50.

McMaster - Carr rods have been suggested and used by many using the following info from an old reddit post which listed this rod by part number to use as a .300 BO alignment rod. For the 2 rods I listed I paid about $40 shipped if I remember correctly.

.2968" - PN 8890K228 - Alternative for oversized, loose .300 blk / .308 Bores. Tiny, Tiny bit of play. Too tight to fit CZ 527. This is also nearly identical to the diameter of the Geissele rod at .297"

I bought this rod and another on the post listed to fit .556 /.223 and used them on several of my rifles and cans. They fit tight and came certified by McMaster - Carr for concentricity. I have not had a chance to fire the cans since getting them and using the rods so no user feedback other than they fit nice and tight and indicated the bore of the rifle was true and centered thru the suppressor. Other posts described people cutting the rods to specific lengths to fit and then chamfering the ends but my machine skills are non existent so I left the rod stock length.
Hope this helps

I picked up a few steel rods from McMaster Carr for this purpose. Maybe worth a look if you are looking for a lower cost option.
