The difference between cigarettes and some of the other "health issues" that crop up now and again (ALAR, fat foods, french fries, large sodas, etc) is the 2nd Amendment, which recognize a pre-existing right to bear arms....

LOL @ "public safety", it is by far the most abused weasel word used by agents of the Total State. Simply replace "public safety" with "state security" and his bloviating becomes crystal clear.

Two further observation. First, do the gun grabbers really believe an attempt to repeal the 2nd Amend. has a snowball's chance in hell of passing. I've got to believe there's no way 38 of our 50 states would approve such a preposterous and ludicrous idea. Second, do the gun grabbers really believe that if all civilian firearms somehow magically disappeared the country would be at peace. Hell no! Most proposed laws I've seen so ar exempt thousands of types of firearms. Therefore, there will be firearms available for the criminals to buy, stael or what ever, as if the presence or absence of laws bother the crooks in the first place. Their entire argument is predicated on an illogical, unsupportable concept. It's an exercise in self deception.
