Newspaper needs reminder: 2A is a right, not a regulated privilege

A Thursday editorial in the Seattle Times serves as a reminder that far too many newspaper editorial boards across the country cannot tell the difference between fundamental rights versus regulated privileges.

Do Increased Gun Thefts Show Futility of Background Check Laws?

Bloomberg News reported Friday that gun store robberies have increased by an alarming 227 percent since 2013 and burglaries have spiked 71 percent during the same period, raising the question whether so-called "universal background check" laws are a feel-good exercise in futility.

There is this excellent document called : The Bill Of Rights.
Now if only more folks took the time to read and understand this document.
And perhaps note that it is called The Bill of Rights...Not The Bill of Privileges , The Bill Of Guidelines or The Bill of Gee wouldn't that be a good Idea...

Reading and understanding the Constitution and the BOR's as it's written should be a prerequisite for any person running for public office, even a coroner!!! And yes there will be a test.

And if they do anything in violation of either document, they get immediately fired, fined and forbidden from ever holding public office again!

You have to realize the politicians serve the lobby money as the government employees and militery serve the governments interests not what is constitutional. So we have a politician and government that is a crime gang from top to bottom. Are the people upholding unconstitional edicts able to use the I was just following orders excuse ? They are seeming above the laws and not held responsible they just criminals.

I say execution................... it might make them a little more mindful of what the Constitution and the Bill of Right actually states.

This^^^

This is the correct punishment for any elected official who violates either the US Constitution or Bill of Rights...

That punishment should be at all levels from small town America to the highest levels of our federal government.

You know something gun control-related is screwed up when even the MSM won't support it, re. HB 6146, removing state pre-emption on firearms.

How anyone with any sense of intelligence, even if they hated guns to their very core...could reasonably argue it would be sensible to have people possibly go from being in 'compliance' to 'violation,' possibly multiple times, from something as normal and routine as driving from Seattle to Tacoma is utterly ridiculous...nothing more than a form harassment.

People like this are the types would that argue to outlaw dihydrogen monoxide o_O again.

IMHO, Every gun shop and range in the state should have a laptop set up, preferably with a coffee dispenser next too it, with the appropriate links ready to go, and every patron/range member that walks through the door gets a free cup of java to send the proper emails...they'd be done well before they finished the coffee.
