Illinois State Rep. Terra Costa Howard (D) is pushing legislation to make it illegal for counties to declare "Second Amendment Sanctuary" status.

Her bill comes as counties in Colorado, Illinois, and New Mexico reject state-level Democrats' push to place more and more gun control on the back of law-abiding citizens. On March 10 Breitbart News reported that 25 of New Mexico's 33 counties have declared "Second Amendment Sanctuary" status to show they will not enforce their Democrat Governor's latest gun control law.

I'd suggest you BUG THE CRAP OUT OF YOUR SHERIFF and make the last ditch effort for your county and get your sheriff to just make the declaration for all those counties that didnt get SAPO on the ballot!

This is happening in many states including WA. I would like to think that the OR legislators would take notice of the embarrassment this causes and think twice before passing unconstitutional laws, but no, they are too arrogant to care about that.

It's going to be interested to see what happens on June 30th in Washington state when Washington states gun confiscation law goes into effect. Will Inslee have the balls and will have have a National Guard willing to disarm all those who refuse to comply with the Nazi-era registration scheme? Will these sheriffs defy orders and refuse to step down if the Governor so demands it and uses his political muscle to try to push for some type of vote to assume emergency powers to strip these Sheriffs and other county officials of their authority?

This is pretty much leading the way to the beginning of a Civil War in this country. Like in the Hank Williams Jr song, "I'm For Love", The President is against the Congress, The Senate is against the House, The Federal government is against the State, the State is against the county.

The only good thing Americans really have is the Constitution and those who will defend it. The politicians have become crooked and striving to turn America into an Autocratic dictatorship like Russia and China.

What it boils down to is what happens after the Governor has these "rogue" Sheriffs removed from their office. Will people who voted for these people just sit there, submit and comply? What if the Sheriffs refuse to step down and have the support of the county? They are literally becoming there own little mini-states within the state. Obviously, the Governor will have to deploy the National Guard. Will the National Guard be willing to take on local "rogue" government municipalities?

These are going to be some very interesting and possibly chaotic times.

They're elected officials. They can be removed from power by a few choice "scandals" and accusations of whatever is enough to remove them from office, no matter how ridiculous...

Sadly, this will most likely be the reality of this bold posturing of the Sheriffs. I think it would be more effective if the state was rebelling against the Federal government as we saw during the last attempt at an Assault Weapon Ban. But county rebelling against the state would be a challenging one, since the state has much more leverage over its constituent counties.
