I also recommend a standard AR with a CMMG conversion kit for the versatility. You can get ~$500 AR's at Palmetto State Armory so you will likely see deals on other entry level AR's soon if not now. PSA also has periodic deals on the conversion kit and mag packages. If that's out of budget, then the M&P 22.
