Tier one ammo can only go to the military. It may never be sold to the general public......ever, by order of congress I believe. So the military actually gets M855 not XM855. the X is the designation for tier two or other then one. Are you sure this is what you have?

XM855 and M855 are the same ammo made by Federal. The government doesn't always accept certain lots of M855 for whatever reason and the 'X' is added to the unacceptable lots and sold commercially.
