Late 1943 National Postal Meter M1 Carbine. .30 caliber. The barrel and stock are correct for a NPM carbine, but the remainder of the parts are from a variety of manufacturers, mostly Inland , all our USGI and dating from WWII. The receiver has the original gray-green Parkerized finish which perfectly matches the finish on the Buffalo Arms marked barrel. The barrel date is consistent with the range of the serial number of the gun and I am of the opinion that the barrel is original to the receiver. The bore is bright and shiny with good rifling, the muzzle wear measures about 1.0. There are no import marks on the gun. A breakdown of the carbine is as follows : receiver - national postal meter, serial number 4116489, third production block (November 1943 through June 1944.). Barrel-marked buffalo arms, dated 10/1943. Bore is bright with good rifling, muzzle erosion measures 1.0. Stock - low wood, oval cut slot, visible crossed cannons cartouche with NPM over FJA, marked Trimble TN in the sling well. SSA arsenal rebuild mark on the left side. The stock would have originally been on a carbine produced by national postage meter. Hand guard – type II, two rivet, marked TN (NPM). Rear sight - type II adjustable rear sight marked H in shield. Front sight - type 1-C front sight, marked QJ (quality hardware). Operating slide - type V slide, marked with 7161843 (inland or Winchester). Bolt – type III round bolt marked A.I.2 (Inland). Trigger housing - type IV marked Inland. Hammer - type III hammer marked NI (Inland). Safety - flip type IV, unmarked. Magazine catch - post war replacement. The carbine looks great and operates and functions perfectly. I would advise the buyer to have it inspected by a competent gunsmith. Also included in the price are 120 rounds of 30 caliber tracer, 220 rounds of ball 30 caliber, a tool kit, 10 pouch ammo belt, sling, and a bayonet and scabbard. Everything is dated 1943 and could have been used with the carbine in 1943.

Please note that there will be no magazines, I repeat no magazines sold or shiwith the gun. Washington state has just enacted a high-capacity magazine ban whereby magazines of 10 rounds or more cannot be shipped or received in Washington state after July 1, 2022.

I'm asking $2200 for the entire package. Sorry no trades. Email me for more pictures are more information. Thanks for looking.

I think the law allows up to 10 rounds, but not more than. So sale of 10 round magazines or less would be perfectly legal.

Excerpt from WA SB5078: "A "large capacity magazine" is defined as "an ammunition feeding device with the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition, or any conversion kit, part, or combination of parts, from which such a device can be assembled if those parts are in possession of or under the control of the same person, but shall not be construed to include any of the following:

  • An ammunition feeding device that has been permanently altered so that it cannot accommodate more than 10 rounds of 40 ammunition
  • A 22 caliber tube ammunition feeding device
  • A tubular magazine that is contained in a lever-action firearm."
