1935 30.06

    im 15 and i just got my first hunting rifle. i have a 30.06 rifle. i would like some information on it if anyone can help. it says republica peruana it also says herstal-belgique. it also says fab nat. d'armes de guerre. model number is 12777. made in modelo 1935. my dad says its a mauser but thats all the info i have please help

    Howdy and Welcome Braidy,

    Without a picture, I'd say your Dad is right, the action is a Belgium made FN Mauser. A very fine action made of some of the best steel in the world. Your action probably started as a military gun supplied to the Peruvian army. Is it "sporterized"? This means that perhaps it was re-barreled for the .30-06 cartridge, and the stock looks like a hunting gun rather than a military gun. If you can get a picture posted, we might do better with some info for you.
