1911 safety slack

I have a RIA compact 1911, I love the cheap bugger, I really do. Great CCW.

But the one thing that pisses me off about the gun is the beavertail backstrap safety wiggles just enough to make a nice metallic rattling sound when I walk. It works perfectly, it just rattles. Is this fixable? I've never tore down my 1911 to see haw the back safety operates.

It should be fixable, one way I can think of is to fit a new beavertail safety, one that isnt so loose. But there may be an easier way.

How bad is the rattle?

Might pull off the safety and stick a piece of electrical tape on the side, if there's room between it and the frame.

There are thinner tapes out there as well, for a cheap and easy fix.

Take it to a good 'smith and have him/her look at it. It might be as easy as bending the grip safety return spring segment but do not do this yourself, going by what you wrote.
