Now that it's in effect, I'm completely floored by the number of members posting on this forum and others in threads about 1639 who seem to be completely clueless about it. Posts that indicate that they have zero knowledge of its contents and are wondering how it will be affecting them moving forward.

For God's sake, this has been discussed at great length for nearly the last year.

If they are this oblivious, I would bet that many didnt bother themselves with voting against it.

In my opinion, it is each of our duty as gun owners to at the very least, pay basic attention to proposed initiatives and legislation. Stay educated on their contents, and vote.

For whatever reason - ignorance, defiance, don't care, etc. -what happens if everyone ignores the law?

I for one are fatigue from the assaults on the 2A and are beginning to see the logic and appeal in so many bumper stickers.

And that's how we arrived here:(

I'm gonna put a marker down.

If you didn't help stop this thing, STFU!
You have NOBODY to blame but yourself... you can do your penance by donating to fund Sporting Systems's lawsuit.

I think many were willfully oblivious: they either didn't want to know or couldn't be bothered to know what was in I-1639.

An example is last year, my wife and I met up with @Caveman Jim outside of one of the Big Top gun shows to help hand out "No on I-1639" flyers and to inform gun/prospective gun owners of how bad this thing really was. We were standing in front of Caveman Jim's pickup, which was covered with "No on I-1639" signs and handouts and you would be surprised how many people would try to walk as far away from us as possible without making eye contact. God forbid if we looked their direction or even worse, tried to talk to them, they would look at us the same way most people would look at the dog crap on the bottom of their shoe. I would say that close to half of the people going to the gun show couldn't be bothered to get informed.

Now that they're being inconvenienced, they're finally waking up. Hopefully it's enough to stop the next raft of gun control legislation from being passed, but I'm not holding my breathe.

Seems to me no amount of help stopped this. So what does that mean?

Lemme amend that with a few words, "If you are a WA voter and didn't help TRY TO stop this..." I assumed you guys in OR would realize I'm not talking about you since this was a North of The River fight. :)

Totally get it, I guess I was more thinking aloud that all the help that people DID give didn't work. It's disheartening.

Even for people who dont read the legislation and activism section, local media covered this pretty extensively. I'm pretty sure most people caught wind that something was coming down the pipes by way of MSM or social media. I can't understand why they wouldn't they say to themselves, "I wonder what this is about, maybe i should do 10 minutes of research".

Word : SB941 People here ( Oregon) still think four years later person to person sale without a BGC is legal.
There was just a discussion earlier about police protecting the people. Meanwhile many many years ago that was ruled
they are not there to help in any way. ( some do) but by law no responsibility to lend assistance. Again some departments policies are different.

So you're saying, in effect, that we don't want anyone's help? How did that work out last time?

Perhaps we should welcome everyone to our side, from those who have ALWAYS fought in their own way for the 2A, to those who have just belatedly realized what they allowed to happen and want to join the fight to restore our 2A rights.

It's a big fight. We need everyone.

What I'm saying is "less talk and more action trying to roll this back and stop the NEXT one." :) I also DID offer a suggestion for how those who refused to join the fight last time could seek absolution...

Anyone else wish we only had federal laws and the Constitution ? Seems the more our population grows the easier it is
for local government to break the laws and do as they want. Anyone also notice people break federal laws go to Jail, people break state laws, they pass laws making what ever was illegal legal. I like the whole state thing, but maybe it doesn't work any longer.

No thanks. The Republic worked fine in its original form. The problem came when the concept of a "living breathing" Constitution came along allowing activist justices to subvert it. The states as well as the fed need to be held in check by the Constitution, as written, as intended, period.

I didn't NEED to know all that to oppose it; all anybody needs to know is "If Seattle wants it, it's very bad for the rest of us."
That sums everything up right there.
Anything else said is a continuance of the proverbial toilet.
I'll refrain posting the image consonant F, and vowel U

Ya cause its working out so well for us all.............
I disagree, the states are not managing the government. They argue and squabble and yet the government becomes
more powerful. If there was one state only, then we would control it as one people. This 50 states is great but also
horribly ineffective in it current form.
So how many would not love to kick California out of the US? all of us. Why? Because it fails as a state, and Oregon, WA, NY and a dozen more are removing rights that are protected. So I don't buy that it works.

I lived and watched the People Socialist Party of California destroy that state, by doing what is being done to all of our states. Its not a matter if we will fall to the same fate, but when.

So no more electoral college? Concentrate all the power in LA, NY, CHI? Good plan
