Oregon hunter education training is not easy to figure out how to complete. ODFW has this info online but there is too many options and some cost more than others. Easiest and cheapest is doing an online free course followed by a required field day training and test. My first kid did a in person class followed by the field day. The class cost money but was really good. My second kid did the NRA free online course and ODFW field day route. The information I have below my neighbor used for his kid to complete hunters ed this summer.

Fist do the NRA online hunter ed course. It is free and can be used to meet part of the training. It is a pretty good course. They can stop and start it as they need and the exercises are varied.

After the online course is complete, they will need to register for a field day to complete the education requirements. The field day you bring the online training course certificate, do the field day training and take a test.

To register for a field day, create a ODFW account for the youth with their own unique email address. Get into the account and check to see what field days are available in the catalog. Be aware the field days are added to the catalog as they are scheduled. If none are around your area you may need to travel to one or check the catalog frequently to see if one is added closer to your home.

HUNTER SAFETY COURSES
Courses are available online from several vendors, and ODFW staff and volunteers team up around the state to teach various classroom and field day courses as well. You can learn more and register for a hunter ed class on Myodfw.com .

Several online courses are available for free or a small charge. ODFW has approved four vendors.
So he took some hunters course through school, but said he needs to do the field day thing, not sure where that's at, would I find all that info through the odfw website?

Yes, but it looks like their link doesnt work correctly. You might have to call ODFW directly at least they show a phone number.
