You have to remember also that Rome did not defeat their enemy's, they eradicated them. Carthage, The Celtic peoples, the Dacians, all wiped out except for a few places for the Celts.

The Romans didint bubblegum around.

I see them more like the Borg. Peoples were conquered and assimilated. If they didn't play, they were killed.

and we should have learned from Vietnam that you can't win a guerrilla war. America still takes the position of the good guy and we won't bomb citizens to kill the wolves among the sheep. We want to try and convince the wolves how good the sheep have it and make the wolves give up their ways. That doesn't work.

If memory serves it was Alexander the Great who said, "I don't fear an army of lions led by a sheep; I fear an army of sheep led by a lion." Western nations are led by sheep. The people, at least enough of them, are lions, even if we suffer the bleating of fool to much. What will it take for the lions to choose another Charles Martel or El Cid to lead them? A nuclear device in London, Paris or Washington D.C.? I hope not.
