short-barreled shotgun

A sawed-off shotgun (also called a sawn-off shotgun, short-barreled shotgun, shorty or a boom stick) is a type of shotgun with a shorter gun barrel—typically under 18 inches (46 cm)—and often a shortened or absent stock. Despite the colloquial term, barrels do not, strictly speaking, have to be shortened with a saw. Barrels can be manufactured at shorter lengths as an alternative to traditional, longer barrels. This makes them easier to transport due to their smaller profile and lighter weight. The design also makes the weapon easy to maneuver in cramped spaces, a feature sought by military close-quarters combat units, law enforcement SWAT team users, and home-defense purposes. As a result of the shorter barrel length, any sawed-off shotgun with a magazine tube will have its capacity reduced.
In the 1930s, the United States, Britain and Canada mandated that a permit be required to own these firearms. They are subject to legal restrictions depending upon jurisdiction. They are used by military forces and police agencies worldwide.

cheap side by side to NFA Register and saw off.

I could use my CZ USA Hammer classic, but I kinda like it as is. FWIW, I want this with a 6-8 inch barrel as a coach gun. Nothing fancy, but could be cut down and be reliable.

Build Thread  Remington V3 TAC13 Questions

So, I'm thinking of acquiring a Remington V3 TAC13 for the basis of a Form 1 project. I've googled it a bit, but am not finding ready answers. On that point a couple questions: I'm not up on all things Remington, so what action is this based on? I can't imagine they built one just for this...

What Does It Take For SBS?

What form would I need to convert a firearm to a short-barreled shotgun? Is such a thing possible, or is it once a firearm, always a firearm?

eForms for Form 1s Back (Kinda)

One of the handy things with having an NFA trust was I could Form 1 projects on eforms. I did two SBRs and a SBS via that system and it worked pretty well. With 41F, alas, it went away. I just read, however, that it is now back. The only caveat is that the fingerprint cards have to be...

    SBS, Shockwave/Tac-14 vs. bullpup

Length is an issue with self-defense/combat shotguns. Maneuverability (e.g., inside building or even a car, etc.), ability to carry/store in a small package (pack, case, etc.), and even concealing it on your person - primarily length is a limiting factor. The example above doesn't show a...

    How about a 10 Gauge (3 1/2" Magnum) version of Mossberg's new non-NFA SBS with a 16" barrel

If you can handle the recoil generated by such a self-defense piece, a 4+1 magazine capacity with 3.5" shells and 5+1 2 7/8" shells might be interesting with 0000 (.38") diameter buckshot. Talk about a "show stopper"! The blast alone will disorient anyone within 30 feet and a 2-ounce rifled...

    Your NFA Smoothbores?

I thought it might be neat to have a picture thread dedicated to registered NFA smoothbores. There are shotgun, or shotgun-like, items that fall into the SBS, AOW, and DD classifications. I'll get us started ... Top is a SxS Coach Gun with an 11" barrel. The bottom is the Serbu Super...
