shelf
A continental shelf is a portion of a continent that is submerged under an area of relatively shallow water known as a shelf sea. Much of these shelves has been exposed during glacial periods and interglacial periods. The shelf surrounding an island is known as an insular shelf.
The continental margin, between the continental shelf and the abyssal plain, comprises a steep continental slope, surrounded by the flatter continental rise, in which sediment from the continent above cascades down the slope and accumulates as a pile of sediment at the base of the slope. Extending as far as 500 km (310 mi) from the slope, it consists of thick sediments deposited by turbidity currents from the shelf and slope. The continental rise's gradient is intermediate between the gradients of the slope and the shelf.
Under the United Nations Convention on the Law of the Sea, the name continental shelf was given a legal definition as the stretch of the seabed adjacent to the shores of a particular country to which it belongs.
Posting this in this forum because I expect people here will have more knowledge about the issue.
Costco currently has Original Wheat Thins on sale. We bought some and then noticed that the expiration date is "23August" so they are much closer to expiration than the usual 6-9 months. Internet...
Less than $5 a can. You pickup in Dallas Oregon on a Friday or Saturday. My mom bought this cache in 2010. There are a total of 116 #10 cans. There's also a lot more serving in these older can than most manufacturers are putting in current offerings. The shelf life on all these cans is 25-30...
I've been looking for a Simplex pistol safe for a Taurus 856 Defender revolver. It would sit 'on top' of a shelf. This would be for home defense.
I'm looking for something with the following criteria:
Has a simplex lock (no batteries)
Front opening (ideally lid flips down)
I bought this...
Just curious. Say, for ceramic type IV body armor, what is it that gives them a limited shelf life?
Is there any data on effectiveness rates over time?
Are their storage methods (ie., dark and limited airflow) that will effectively prolong the life of body armor or is it a chemical breakdown...
I have a large container of Whey Protein Powder that has a March 2022 expiration date but has been open for over a year. How long will whey protein powder typically last once the seal is broken?

Hi all!
My grandfather recently passed away and I inherited what can only be described as antique ammunition (some 22lr, 25acp, .38 "wadcutters", - all appear to be from the 70's and a myriad of shotgun ammunition that looks to be from the mid 90's). My guess is that I don't need to worry...

A friend recently mentioned that during the Obama regime smokeless powder was required to be manufactured with a shortened or set shelf life. That new powder does not last long periods of time. Can anyone shed light or (hopefully) debunk this rumor.
We are parting with our Shelf reliance 72 can storage and rotation rack. This retails for $459 if you can find one.
This one has all the accessories to hold cans from the large #10 cans down to small tuna and cat food size cans. I have a top shelf for this as well. $150.00 OBO if the ad is...
Things in really nice condition and works well. Comes with two cards and new batteries. No mounting hardware/foam/light.
Run the card over an rfid sensor on top and the shelf opens.

So a buddy has the hunting bug. Who’s turning out the best off the shelf rifle these days?
Within a reasonable price <$700 or so.
He’s decided on 7mm mag, but could be convinced otherwise but is new to shooting.
wants to give both deer and elk a try but can only afford one rifle.
Just bought this gun for my kids to use. Bought a nicer Leupold CDS scope. Can someone tell me the most consistent and accurate off the shelf stuff there is? Im
Not gonna load for this gun.
