Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
My goal is to take as much of their time as possible. :) But not your time - just skim it, use anything I've written in your letter if you want to, let me know what I should remove.
Sorry I'm not a good writer, but here it is. Should I remove the last sentence in PART 1, section 1?

This is my letter to SOS stating why IP43 should be rejected for it's failure to comply with Oregon law ORS 250.035 (2) (a) on drafting ballot language, specifically the ballot title in this case. It seems to me that it would be an impossible task to follow the law in this case since IP43 covers...
I have 6 t-shirts coming. A friend runs a shop. When I explained what was happening he agreed to have some made up and charge me at cost... $8 each. If I can get some interest going, I know he would be happy to help us get the message out there.
One topic I have not seen mentioned is There are a few gun manufactures in Oregon .Most that specifically specialize in the type of Firearms that IP43 wants to ban from manufacture and sale .
This will shut them down and lose the jobs of their employee's . also reducing the taxes paid to Oregon.
From Initiative 43, Section 3 (1) (a) (B)
(B) Semiautomatic pistol, or any semiautomatic, centerfire or rimfire rifle with a fixed magazine, that has the capacity to accept more than 10 rounds of ammunition;
Comma placement muddles meaning here, just as it does in the 2ndA.
This could be...
Thanks to Defense Minister, Oathkeeper1775 and others for posting their letters on this forum. I borrowed some language from some and ended up with a condensed version that I feel accomplishes the goal. I added parts to the suggested ballot title since that has not got much mention. One little...

In light of the recent media attention regarding our Second Amendment rights and in particular, concerns...
The cover sheet that was issued by the Secretary of State’s office with the draft ballot title on IP43 indicated the SOS was seeking public input “on whether the petition complies with the procedural constitutional requirements established in the Oregon Constitution for initiative petitions”...
If I'm reading it correctly, as this thing saying that it's amending ORS 166.250, doesn't ORS 166.260 exempt concealed carriers from any subsequent changes to 166.250?
Not a Lawyer, but that seems like a glaring loophole.
Here is what I’m planning on submitting;
To whom it may concern;
The proposed caption for Initiative Petition 2018-043, proposed for the November 6, 2018, General Election does not meet the requirements of the Oregon State Constitution which requires that initiative measures address only one...
Some say we should win by persuasion and education. Here is my attempt at it, knowing it is futile:

Sorry for posting this up at the last minute, but Kevin Starrett of OFF and Derek LeBlanc, owner of Lethal Lovebirds LLC will be at the Beaverton Masonic Lodge tonight to discuss IP43 and 44.
This is a free meeting, but seating is limited so you must sign up on Eventbrite. Here's the link...
I came across this from Jo Rae Perkins, the Republican candidate for U.S. Representative, district 4 in Oregon. It's similar to something being proposed down in Arizona as well.

I live in Terrebonne Oregon. I don't have the money to run and I will not give up any freedoom! I will not go quietly into the night! i will rage against the dying of the light!
What are you seriously going to do? Tell them pry it from your dead fingers. Ya, sure. Bury them. Got a secure spot not in your back yard? Boating accident. Get real. I've got kids in free states that will be getting the inheritance early. They are getting them anyway, and I can always visit to...
How do I write a letter to the editor or submit a commentary to The Oregonian?
Has anyone tried this? Would anyone be open to collaborate on something like this?
I know it is a long shot considering we are submitting to a left leaning paper, but it would go a long way if we could present our...
This thread was created to provide information all in one place for those who wish to participate in stopping Initiative Petition 43; I hope that includes everyone reading this.
Information here will be modified as the petition progresses. Please keep this thread short by only posting...
I am reading the newest Initiative Petition 43 filed on 22-Mar-18 and I noted something that no one in the gun community is really talking about. This initiative seems to also ban hunting and recreational shooting on public lands with any so-defined 'Assault Weapon'.
The text essentially says...
