Military surplus are goods, usually matériel, that are sold or otherwise disposed of when no longer needed by the military. Entrepreneurs often buy these goods and resell them at surplus stores. Usually the goods sold by the military are clothing, equipment, and tools of a nature that is generally useful to the civilian population, as well as embroidered patches, name tags, and other items that can be used for a faux military uniform. Occasionally, vehicles (jeeps, trucks, etc.) will be sold as well. Some military surplus dealers also sell military surplus firearms, spare parts, and ammunition alongside surplus uniforms and equipment.
Demand for such items comes from various collectors, outdoorsmen, adventurers, hunters, survivalists, and players of airsoft and paintball, as well as others seeking high quality, sturdy, military issue garb. The goods may be used, or not. Some merchants of surplus goods also sell goods that are privately manufactured in military standards.
Most items that are sold in military surplus stores in the United States are deemed "military grade". This designation refers to meeting a relevant United States Military Standard. For example, uniforms meet Army Regulation 670-1.

For sale I have a Russian Izhevsk Mosin-Nagant 91/30 made in 1941. All numbers are matching (except for the bayonet) and the gun has gone through a post-war refurbishing so it is in very good shape except for the finish missing from some of the top handguard which you can see in the photo. Bore...

Have a "gunsmith special" Mauser 1914 here, the only thing on it that needs to be replaced is the safety itself. Looks like someone brazed on something to the original for some reason. Other than that it functions flawlessly. Finish is rough, grips are worn. (What do you...

Springfield 1903
British Enfield or M1917

Hey everybody, I got a(nother) Chinese Tokarev recently and took it out to the range, where I encountered an issue with the slide not going fully into battery, and getting hung up while closing. If I gave it a slap it would go into battery and function as normal. I tried this with different...
I have for sale a Steyr M95 carbine made in 1915 and rechambered after WW1 for 8x56R Mannlicher. Numbers are matching but I believe the stock and bolt were force-matched after the war, probably sometime in the 30s when these rifles re-entered Austrian service. The bore is in excellent condition...
Hello all, I'm selling a CMP Special Grade M1 Garand in IMMACULATE condition. The rifle's receiver dates to January of 1943 and the stock is new from the CMP itself. I still have the manual but unfortunately not the CMP tag, though the muzzle reading was 0+ and the throat reading was 1+. I have...
