cylinder
A cylinder (from Greek: κύλινδρος, romanized: kulindros, lit. 'roller', 'tumbler') has traditionally been a three-dimensional solid, one of the most basic of curvilinear geometric shapes. It is the idealized version of a solid physical tin can having lids on top and bottom. Geometrically, it can be considered as a prism with a circle as its base.
This traditional view is still used in elementary treatments of geometry, but the advanced mathematical viewpoint has shifted to the infinite curvilinear surface and this is how a cylinder is now defined in various modern branches of geometry and topology.
The shift in the basic meaning (solid versus surface) has created some ambiguity with terminology. It is generally hoped that context makes the meaning clear. Both points of view are typically presented and distinguished by referring to solid cylinders and cylindrical surfaces, but in the literature the unadorned term cylinder could refer to either of these or to an even more specialized object, the right circular cylinder.
I guess that is enough of a title to capture people who know
what they are..
There is a box of surfacing hones stones from Dean's estate if
any of you (us) older individuals are interested and know
what they are.
For those of you who are too young or don't have a clue, there
was a time when...
One of the guns I took to the range today gave me problems. Smith & Wesson Model 10. After a firing a few cylinder's worth, it didn't want to close up. At first, I thought there was an issue with the ammunition. That wasn't the case, because empty, the cylinder didn't want to close. One...
I have a 357 Ruger Cylinder 6 shot that I would like to trade for a 10 mm Ruger Blackhawk cylinder.
I can't use the 357 and thought someone else could use it. I need a 10 mm.
I can meet between Portland and Medford for the right trade.
Real nice 24" rifled slug barrel with sight base, 2-3/4 to 3" chamber. Bought it second hand and I've never fired/mounted it. Looks like it was barely if ever used before me.
Would really like a 44 mag H&R barrel, I'll add cash of...
Need an old model Super Blackhawk .44 mag cylinder and grooved wide trigger.
New model hammer and slide tube assembly with the triangle shaped rod.
Old and beat is ok as long as there are not big dents and heavy/deep rust pits.
Thanks for your help,
DRB
I bought this from a member here as a project, it supposedly has a hair trigger, seems like a different thing wrong to me, not sure I feel like messing with it.
Appears unfired or at a minimum, was cleaned very well, no soot, no corrosion, bore is nice.
Passing it along.
$175
Like it says an Uberti '58 made in 2017 with an antique finish. Has had 6 shots through
the cap and ball cylinder and every other shot has been with light cowboy loads in the
.Colt conversion cylinder. This is one very accurate shooter as can be seen in a couple
pics i posted of 20yd groups...
Instead buying an overpriced river Blackhawk conversion, I bought a cylinder and can now shoot 9mm from my .38/.357mag revolver.
I was going to get a spare cylinder for my S&W 27 but it was $70 and $350 to have it converted to 9mm. This ruger route was $100 shipped to my door.
I have an Uberti 1858 Remington with the antique finish that also has a .45 LC conversion cylinder
and a nice custom made cross draw holster. Gun is very accurate, especially with the .45 Colt cylinder
with the brass loaded with .454 round balls. Also does good with 200, 228, and 252gr...

I purchased this kit new from C&S but sold my 1911 before I ever had a chance to install the parts. Forged, machined, drop in, top quality. Complete kit cost $150.00. I will ship it for $110.00 upon reciept of postal money order. Would take an adjustable rifle sling with swivels and scope...
Just picked up a new $&W 317 for the wife today. We went to the range, and shot around 80 rnds., and it seems like it's gonna be a really nice gun for her. She really likes the light weight, small frame, and the simplicity of a revolver.
I cleaned the barrel (steel liner) after we got back...
