class
A social class, as in class society, is a set of subjectively defined concepts in the social sciences and political theory centered on models of social stratification in which people are grouped into a set of hierarchical social categories, the most common being the upper, middle and lower classes.
"Class" is a subject of analysis for sociologists, political scientists, anthropologists and social historians. However, there is not a consensus on a definition of "class" and the term has a wide range of sometimes conflicting meanings. In common parlance, the term "social class" is usually synonymous with "socio-economic class", defined as "people having the same social, economic, cultural, political or educational status", e.g., "the working class"; "an emerging professional class". However, academics distinguish social class and socioeconomic status, with the former referring to one's relatively stable sociocultural background and the latter referring to one's current social and economic situation and consequently being more changeable over time.
The precise measurements of what determines social class in society has varied over time. Karl Marx thought "class" was defined by one's relationship to the means of production (their relations of production). His simple understanding of classes in modern capitalist society are the proletariat, those who work but do not own the means of production; and the bourgeoisie, those who invest and live off of the surplus generated by the former. This contrasts with the view of the sociologist Max Weber, who argued "class" is determined by economic position, in contrast to "social status" or "Stand" which is determined by social prestige rather than simply just relations of production. The term "class" is etymologically derived from the Latin classis, which was used by census takers to categorize citizens by wealth in order to determine military service obligations.
In the late 18th century, the term "class" began to replace classifications such as estates, rank and orders as the primary means of organizing society into hierarchical divisions. This corresponded to a general decrease in significance ascribed to hereditary characteristics and increase in the significance of wealth and income as indicators of position in the social hierarchy.

Hey everyone - I know everyone is unsure about what training requirements will come up starting on July 1st, but I wanted to let you know that I've done a ton of leg work to find out what's likely going to happen and to create a cheap online class that meets those requirements.

I've been shooting for a while, but mostly pistols. Never had any training in rifles. Looking to hunt this fall and wanted to see if there were any practical rifle classes in NW OR or SW WA. Not long range, probably 300-400 max. Focusing more on marksmanship and shooting from field positions...
I wanted to put this out to anyone that can recommend a quality defensive pistol class located in the Pacific Northwest. This would be Oregon, Washington, Idaho, or Western Montana. There are a lot of instructors but its hard to see which ones are high quality. Any recommendations would be...
So I purchased this book a few month's ago, and I am pretty sold on his product- knowledge, especially the five elements of a self-defense claim, which are innocence, imminence, proportionality, reasonableness (objective and subjective), and avoidance.

To be clear this is NOT meant to brand bash nor an invitation to brand bash. This is a pure objective clinical view of what Taurus promised in their 2017 class action settlement terms, versus what was delivered. Do you think they lived up to their obligations? From their legal settlement website...
My wife finally wants to get her CHL and wants to take couple live fire classes before she starts carrying. She has shot many times before, she loves her P22 and my 950 Jetfire. Who puts on a good class in the Portland area? She is not worried about it being a woman instructor or any of that.
Has anyone tried or recommend and online class to fulfill the education requirement for and ORegon CHL? I found this place called Felton Academy but couldn't find any reviews or any info from the BBB
I was contacted recently about putting on another 1911 Armorer class. I didn't have one planned until September, but arranged to offer one sooner.
The class is limited to 3 students, and I have 2 slots still available. I keep my armorer classes small, so each student gets personal attention...
