My most recent visit to SafeFire was for my annual LEOSA re-qualification, but I've been a regular customer since 2016. Pushing 80 years of age now, I appreciate more and more the comfort of an indoor shooting range; the setup at SafeFire is the largest & best that I've ever experienced. Modern, clean, and kept in good repair.

Like anyone else, though, I also appreciate the convenience of one location for shooting, firearm rentals, new firearm purchases, private sale transfers, "candy store" browsing, and BSing with folks who have good stories to share. I've also used the services of the co-located gunsmith, Brimstone. Regardless of my reason for visiting, the staff members have all been patient, pleasant, and helpful. As for "knowledgeable", they are all beyond my own level.

I've yet to sample any of SafeFire's classes or competitions, but I do keep that activity in mind for whenever I get a round tuit.

Cost? Sure, SafeFire is more pricey than a visit to the woods & hills. And dryer & more temperate. For me and possibly many others, Safefire is also closer than any woods or hills that aren't already alive with the sound of mag dumps. For military and first responders (active as well as retired), there's also an attractive discount on fees for range time and transfers.

Pros
  • Supreme gun range facilities, friendly and knowledgable staff, lots of rental choices, awesome classes
Cons
  • Little pricey
I usually shoot outdoors and have had to brave some pretty hard weather to do so on a few occasions. Such is a shooter's life in the PNW. On days I want to stay nice and comfortable indoors but still want to have a nice day of shooting, I'll come here. This is without a doubt the nicest gun range in the area, multiple shooting bays with electronic target systems and range officers that greet you and make sure you're familiar with the ins and outs of the range. I have brought first time shooters to Safefire and I couldn't think of many other places better to make sure they had a good time. The rental selection is pretty varied with subcompact handguns all the way up to intermediate rifles (at least from what I remember the last time I was there), and I've enjoyed shooting some more expensive guns such as a H&K SP5K that they had in the stable. Couldn't justify buying one myself at this time, but I had a mighty need to try the "H&K slap".

Something you'll notice when you get here is the price. It can add up pretty quick after you pay for the lane, targets (which theirs are the only ones you can use), and perhaps a rental and it's ammo that you must buy from them to use with said rental. I don't have a large amount of cash to put into my shooting at this time, so I can't justify going here more than once a month or so. I look at an outing to Safefire almost like a trip to a nice golf course, an occasional treat.

Not necessarily a con, but something to keep in mind with really any indoor range is the short maximum target distance. Here, it's 25 yards. If you are wanting to shoot rifles at longer ranges, look elsewhere. If you shoot mainly handguns or other closer-range guns like I do, this is the place to do it indoors.

Also, they have a pretty big selection of shooting classes and monthly events to spice things up!

Pros
  • Knowledgeable and Friendly Staff
  • Rentals can be swapped
  • Clean, Well Maintained, and Safe Facilities
  • Can bring own Ammo
  • Many types of folks train here
Cons
  • Ammo cost can be 10-20% higher than box stores
I was going out to public lands but the ones nearby can be potentially crowded, trashed and at times felt unsafe . Wanted to focus on learning how to shoot and signed up for a membership after using the facilities a couple times and its bargain when compared to the time and effort to get to public places.

The team is nice and willing to share tips and info, while also letting you do your thing. I have taken personal classes with Mike and Paul and they helped immensely. The CCW class with Lee was informative as well and helped me get needed for OR/UT CHL. They have been a big help even when I'm not in the classes and just training, and everyone (including the shop upstairs and the range checking) are wonderful folks.

The space is clean and well maintained and the vending machines are fairly priced. Pretty good selection of rentals and you can try the other guns as much as you want. Ammo prices were a little bit more than going to Bi-mart but you can bring your own ammo and pick up your own brass, so I'm good on that front.

A lot of different kinds of folks train here and the events are fun, there was a great mix of folks at the ornament shoot I attended and many cheers from the competitors when folks shot well, it was a bunch of fun! Its a welcoming and safe place to shoot.

Safefire is a nice local range. They have a good selection available for rentals. The rental fee is by the hour. If you want to rent something different within that hour, there is no additional cost. You need to also buy their ammo for rentals.
If you want to use your own targets, they charge a small fee, so it does make them a bit spendy

Pros
  • Knowledgeable staff
  • Excellent firearm and ammo selection
  • Shooting aids and well laid out shooting bays
  • Helpful RSO’s
I came to Safefire's indoor firing range back in the Summer of this year and I had an enjoyable experience. Upon arriving to the range counter I was greeted by the current employee running the range that day. He was very helpful with waking me through the safety guidelines for on and off the range. I bought eyes, targets, and borrowed hearing protection all for an excellent price along with being discounted for the range fee given that I'm a vet. Waking into the firing range I was instructed on safety measures and weapon orientation while in your preselected bay. He also walked me through the bays electronic target carrier which made things all too convenient for sending and retrieving targets. He also informed me that they also have shooting aid's for zeroing your rifles which was a nice to have.

All and all I had an enjoyable experience. Excellent staff and an equally set up firing range. I will definitely be back.

Went to safe fire before purchasing my handgun. They have a great selection of rentals and you can exchange the rental as much as you want for other models during your range time. It was a great way to test out lots of options before making a purchase - highly recommend! Only minor downside was the wait times, but since we went in the morning it wasn't too bad - maybe 30 minutes.

  • You may have to wait for a lane if you're not a member who can reserve a lane
I've only been a few times but I found it to be a great place to go shooting. The facilities are very clean and modern. It seemed well staffed and the staff was friendly and helpful. I had a good experience checking in. I did have to wait for a lane but I don't think I had to wait very long, maybe 15-20 mins. I do wish I could reserve a lane without needing to be a member. The range officers seemed professional and friendly.

I can't rant enough about how helpful the RSO's are at this range. I bring a lot of first-time shooters here as a guest and the staff goes above and beyond to help them. They're patient and kind to all guests regardless of experience.
