Pros
  • Cheap FFL transfer.
Cons
  • Everything else.
Well, first of all, the lady behind the counter does have temper issues, so I don't think some of the negative reviews in here are exaggerating at all.

I do agree with the other reviewer saying that they have their weird store policies (locks and $2 color copied ID) clearly written (if you pay attention) but nothing changes that they are still little traps trying to squeeze out more bucks from customers who are not aware of these. Stereotypical business tactics of a pawnshop in my view, plain bs.

Their firearm inventory is not impressive at all. And I find it funny for seeing that NWFA support banner because more than half of the NWFA members that I personally know have told me that they do not use them for the same reasons. Some stories I heard from them totally made me believe that every negative review on this forum is not exaggerating.

I once tried to support this business, but I just don't see any reason why I would continue when there are many other competitors with better attitudes.

  • Absolutely amazing service
  • Helpful team members
Cons
  • Prices are a little higher but what can you expect from a dem state with panic buys
Been there a while since way before I even turned 18. My first transfer there took long but my second one was under 30 minutes in and out. When I wasn't able to drive home one of the guys even gave me a ride. Amazing customer service here, would recommend to anyone getting a transfer in the tigard or Portland area. Hopefully their selection increases 🤞

The team of employees are engaged with there customers and I've not had to ever wait long, they are limiting the numbers in the store due to Tigard health idiots,.

Pros
  • great, cheerful service
  • sensible $25 transfer fee
  • often have new pistols in stock at non piss-take prices
  • quick and reliable- no messing around
  • all the staff are great- there isn't that "one guy"
Cons
  • no free coffee or kettlecorn
  • or tea....
Really the best place, whether buying or selling from the classifieds on here, or transferring something from Buds, CDNN, Aim etc or your auction wins. They'll contact the FFLs and exchange info quickly, and they'll call you promptly when your gun comes in.
If you're sending out a gun, they'll make that quick and easy too- you can provide a color copy, (both sides,) of your DL, or they'll make one for $2. Then they'll get it boxed up and sent out pronto. They have some USPS Flat rate Priority Mail boxes, or you can provide your own, unsealed box, though shipping will likely cost more.
Worth dropping by too, just to see what they might have for sale in their cases- there was a stack of new Glocks last week.
I've done more than 20 transactions this past year, ( so I should have written this ages ago), and each one has been utterly hassle free- The guys, (and lady), there are consistently pleasant & professional, which is more than you can say about me.

Good Service & Price for Transfers
Overall Rating
5.00 star(s)
Pros
  • Transfer Price
  • Knowledgeable
  • Service
I was buying a gun from a friend recently, and we received a very fast & friendly service on the transfer from a young man working there. Due to Covid concerns, they were allowing only one transaction inside the store at a time(you wait outside if there are others), but that's understandable.

Years ago, before I got U.S. citizenship, they helped me with a weird transfer involving UPS shipping in/out. Because I was a legal resident(green card), background check took more work & longer, but people working there then were more than happy to help then, too.

Thank you Tigard Pawn 4 More!

Went there to do a purchase/transfer and the gentleman who answered the door, and did the transfer, was one of the friendliest people that I have ever come across. Had us in and out of there in no time at all, well except for the time it took for me to do the paper work and the maybe a minute for the approval to come back :s0115:. I'll go back.

Finally an FFL Who Has It Together
Overall Rating
5.00 star(s)
Pros
  • Very efficient FFL transfer
  • Friendly staff
  • Efficient & Professional
Bought a firearm online and had it transferred here. Was delighted by the experience.

Unlike multiple other FFLs in Portland I've dealt with:
  • They have a web site
  • It looks like it was created in the 21st century
  • It has all of their policies clearly spelled out
  • They answer emails
  • They don't open the package until you're there so you can inspect it
  • They call you within an hour of receiving the shipment
  • They have their license registered with many online companies and they keep it updated.
Considering some other FFLs I've dealt with, this is very professional.

The shop is clean and neat.

An earlier review referred to a "chubby blonde lady" behind the counter, which I think is very rude (she's not chubby). I talked with her while my background check was processing and she was a lot of fun to chat with - learned a lot about the pawn business in about 10 minutes from her.

They have a NWFA sign in their shop! Sweet.

Be sure to note their policies. Your gun must leave the store with a trigger lock - but who doesn't have a dozen of those laying around at home? Just bring one, otherwise you have to buy one. And they need a color copy of IDs when doing transfers from non-FFLs - either bring one or buy one. Policies are all laid out on their web site.

Can only base my review on this one transaction but this was one of the best FFLs I've dealt with for online transfers.

Good place
Overall Rating
4.00 star(s)
Pros
  • Friendly
  • knowledgeable
  • reasonable transfer fees
  • can negotiate on firearm prices
Cons
  • overworked during peak times
  • limited selection, but it's a pawn shop, so I can't ask for a fully stocked "gun store"
I've made several firearms transfers here over the past few years. Alan is great and we've had several conversations about firearms-related topics as well as just general discussions. He seems to genuinely care about his customers and I always feel welcome going there.

The transfer fees are reasonable and they're willing to negotiate on firearms prices. There is a $5 fee required for a copy of your ID if you are selling a firearm there; this is of course waived if you bring your own copy.

Tigard Pawn for privated transfers: Good to go
Overall Rating

Pros
  • Very helpful, gun owner friendly. Helped us out even through right before closing time
Met someone from the board out in Tigard as he was purchasing three of my Mosins. First stop was at NW Armory but didn't realize they were closed on Mondays. We met there a little before 5:30 due to conflicting schedules. Did a quick google search for the nearest gun / pawn shop and found one about a 4 minute drive away but they were closed Mondays & Tuesdays. Amazingly enough we found another place, also nearby but they weren't doing private transfers. Then found Tigard Pawn, again just minutes away, and got there 5 minutes before posted closing time. They let us in, were friendly, and helped us through the transfer process. Great folks, I recommend them!

Just Easy

Pros
  • Inexpensive
  • Quick
  • No Color copy charge
Cons
  • BGC backlog isn't their fault
First time buying a gun online. Tigard Pawn was super easy to deal with. After I purchased the gun, I put them in contact with the seller and they took it from there. 5 days of transit time, 6 days of BGC. Dealt with a younger guy who was chill and easy to deal with. They are limiting the number of people in the store. I didn't have to wait but the people behind me did.
I'd use again.

I used them once. Seemed sort of flighty and witnessed owner drop a customers handgun on the concrete in the room behind the counter. Won't go back.

Nice folks. The are very stringent on the rules for FFL transfer (color ID copy required, $2 cost) and all handguns need to be transferred with trigger lock.

Other than that, great to work with.

Pros
  • I really like the owners, easy to deal with
  • Always a nice selection of items
Cons
  • 3.00 change to seller for color copy of id during bgc
I've been going in here for years. Low cost for firearm transfers, but they will charge seller to make copies of your license, so bring a color copy of both sides on one page or be ready for the service fee.

I have visited this pawn shop for many years. I have purchased both firearms and store items from them. I've always been happy with the service and selection and will continue my patronage.

Current private party transfer fee 8-01-23 is 35.00. In store purchase fee is 30.00.
