Pros
  • Lots of finish options for cerakote
  • Offer teardown and reassembly of firearms
  • Friendly staff
  • Fast turnaround time
I bought my wife a Ruger LCP Max for EDC and the slide began rusting within two months. Instead of shipping the slide back to Ruger to get the same finish reapplied, I called McCluskey Arms to see what they recommended. After they explained the pros and cons of different finishes, I ended up going with a black cerakote that looks and feels way better than the factory finish. The staff was friendly and answered all of my questions about the cerakote process. I was also surprised with their turnaround time as it was quicker than originally quoted. I look forward to doing more business with them in the future.

Pros
  • The have suppressors and Engraving services on site.
I used these guys to engrave my SBR.
The owner was great and very knowledgeable (about NFA and Firearms) and had some suggestions for suppressors that were also in his store.

Kept me in the loop as they were transitioning to the new location.

Pros
  • These guys know what they are doing and do it well
Cons
  • Can take up to three weeks for some services
I had Kidd industries send and entire 22lr setup to them and had them Cerakote and assemble it and install it into a Victor Titan22 stock for me and a Henry 410 lever action shotgun they turned it into a tactical gun and Cerakoted it.
Beautiful work and easy to work with.
They were recommended by the Albany rifle club.

I will try to upload a picture lol.

Pros
  • Excellent Build Work
  • Super Personable Crew
Cons
  • Long Wait Times (Super Popular)
I can't exactly say that it's their speciality, but Erik, Asher and The Boys over at McCluskey Arms do have a soft spot in their hearts for Kalashnikovs. I was in the market for an AK-74 when I first received a tip about some kits that had been purchased by this local crew - who, at the time, I had not heard of. So, I set forth, went down to meet with them, and that is how the journey got started early last May. APEX Gun Parts had brought in some of what I'm going to assume will be one of the last batch imports of Bulgarian AK-74 kits and I jumped on one of the matching kits. The build price was comparable to other crews on the market and that was not a big deal. By late last July, the first kit was completed with a ZenitCo furniture set that I procured from another member here on the forum.

August rolled around and I had seen that APEX brought in some Romanian PM md. 65 (local AKMS-style) reverse dong, under-folder parts kits and I went down to see if they would order one up and start work on that. Of course, they had already ordered some and that journey began. By mid-October, that one was finished. Both of these builds were done during a high influx of other orders, so the waiting periods were slightly beyond what was originally projected, but that is really no big deal in the scheme of things. If you want things done right, it might take a minute.

To be clear, I've seen some piss-poor builds done by other companies over the years - from those who did not specialize in Kalashnikovs to even the slightest degree. I've also seen what people refer to as the "peak" of builds from companies like that of Rifle Dynamics. McCluskey's team is capable of doing some rather high-end work for being a group who is likely relatively unknown to the build community, and they are also able to do other builds. They're rather diverse in that regard. The barrel setting and the riveting was exemplarily done. Both of my orders also required selector notches to match the rifle's original nationality and custom serial engraving to match the original trunnion marks, and they got it done without compliant. When they had a question or concern, they were quick to call me and inquire or otherwise alert me to see what I wanted to do.

They're also able to assist with smaller matters due to primarily being a gunsmithing crew. Mechanical modifications? Slide millwork? Transfers? Refinishing? Zeroing? Custom engraving? Sight replacement / alignment because all of your own gear is packed away and you broke something? They can do it and they do it well.

I really can't thank them enough for the dedication that was poured into the work that they did on these.
