I hate to say this but they treated me like a common criminal. All I wanted to do is buy 2 rifles and pass on a good deal on a Ruger 10/22 to my son but the employees in the gun department were extremely rude to me. I went in initially because I saw 2 rifles I couldn't find anywhere else at the sales price they advertised. I went in, filled out a background check application and went home. I hadn't paid them yet. I am well aware of the laws and I would never do anything that might endanger my freedom or rights, especially my 2nd amendment rights. I haven't received my guns yet but since it was taking so long to approve my background check. I called and asked a question "Was the sales price written on my application at the time I completed it so that the price would be honored at the time of purchase?" I was asked for myself but also for my son. I was informed by the man that if it was written on my background check application at the time it was completed it would be honored. He then left the phone and went to check if it was on my application. As I waited for his return a woman picked up the phone and started making criminal accusations of sending my son in to make a "strawman purchase" for me. I said no and she asked if I'd like to speak to the manager. I said yes and almost immediately the manager named Steven accused me of a felony. He had no basis upon which to make this accusation. He said "It sounds like you're planning a strawman purchase" to which I said "it sounds like you're accusing me of a crime". I was trying to assure him I wasn't and he simply stopped listening, spoke over the top of me, then hung up on me.
There is no basis to make this accusation other than his imagination. Second of all, by making this accusation it prevents me from making a purchase there and I am certainly not going to refer my son to purchase there or anyone else after being treated this way. Prior to this conversation I was forwarding sales to my son for Ruger 10/22 rifles around the country and this was one of the sales I thought he might consider. Buying local also reduces our cost by the background check fee around $35. All I've been trying to do is buy rifles at a fair price so we could shoot together as a family. Now it seems Steven has made that impossible. Heather Jaxx, the store manager over all departments wrote me and said she'd speak to Steven. I deserve an apology from Steven but I doubt I'll ever get one.
