Pros
  • Quality work and great communication!
Dave and Michelle shine on Service Before, During and even After Sale--they were riding shotgun with me all the way through building my gal's C8, even though their main responsibility was changing a flash-hider and applying Gunkote to the C8's furniture.

Great people to do business with, great people to learn from, all around great people in general. Well worth the nuisance of getting there to be my go-to FFL, and will definitely be back!

Cons
  • Not the fastest, but he does all the gunsmithing and refinishing himself.
I've only had him do a couple small things, but I have friends who have had some extensive work done. A buddy had his self built (built it in a 1911 course) finished there with Duracote. He also had another gun refinished and added front grip... texturing. I can't really think how to describe it. Not stipling or checkering, and not quite a snake skin pattern but that's closer. It also had a slightly different shape than the standard rounded front. It was kind of an experiment that Aaron was fine with him doing. It had a trigger job and new trigger while it was there.
Another had his beat up Colt Delta Elite completely rebuilt and modified with beavertail, ambi safety, new trigger hammer and sear. Plus checkering. It came out very nice.
I have a buddy who had his AR finished in a Vietnam era tiger stripe pattern. Rifle, handguard, original stock and grip, light, laser, Eotech body, and magnifier.
I do have a 1911 that he did some work on. I bought it from a former co-worker so I don't know exactly what he did other than replacing the Springfield ILS grip safety with a one piece magwell, and working on the trigger. I'm pretty sure that meant replacing the hammer at the very least, and I'm pretty sure the sear and disconnector as I don't see the MIM flue spots.

South Ridge Arms is now my go-to LGS. From where I live I must drive a ways to get there but it is always worth the time on the road. Dave and his crew are first rate. From simple purchases, "Say, do you have some 45acp jhps?" to a fairly complex re-work on a 1911, the results have been satisfying. They are in a new location and every time I go in they have added more goodies to the shelves. I highly recommend this LGS. Reasonable prices too along with lots of good natured gun banter.

Met Dave today at the WAC show. Sometimes when you meet someone in the gun business and pick their brain without laying down cash, they tend to seem disingenuous. Not the case here, he treated me like a long time customer and that to me means that I will be a long time customer starting with my Kimber and Para that he will see very soon. And i will post pics when they are done.

I have a Springfield Loaded that was tuned up by him and it's pretty nice. Not a lot done, just the trigger, a new mainspring housing with magwell, and extractor, but it was well done. I've also had a trigger tuned on my UCP and it turned out great. I've seen the work he's done on friend's guns and am impressed. His prices are good, and the turnaround time is very fast.

Dave did a beat up Beretta 96 for me a couple of years ago. Outstanding finish and completed right on time. Great guy to do business with.

Just had Dave at Southridge do up a couple 1911s of mine.

First is a Clackamas Kimber, that has a low round count, but had lots of holster wear. So I had to get it refinished, to keep it looking nice. I had him parkerize the whole gun, then ceracoat it with satin black and satin green.

Next is a home built up 1911, that is an Essex frame, and all GI Remington-Rand parts. It's as close to a real USGI 1911 as I can afford. I had Dave parkerize the whole thing.

Both came out looking great, and I went shooting this past weekend, and put a couple hundred rounds through each gun. In additing to finishing the guns, Dave also polished up the feedramps, and checked them over to make sure all parts are in spec, and working good.

Great job, at a very affordable price, with an excellent turnaround time. Shipped up to Southridge UPS, and returned right to my door UPS. Excellent job Dave. Thanks!!!!

Southridge is a supporting vendor here. You all should throw some business his way.
