Join the #1 community for gun owners of the Northwest
We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
This would only happen if there was a State wide closure of State lands. As I recall, the closest we ever got to this was last Spring when State Parks were closed, but even then the lanes were open. Other than for repairs/remodeling, the only time the lanes have been closed by the State was the end of last Summer when we had that couple weeks of high winds and low humidity with wild fires breaking out all over the State. It is up to individuals visiting the lanes to practice COVID prevention protocols which is quite easy to do. Even on lanes three and four, which are intended to be shared, it's very easy to maintain two AR-15 distances apart. The lanes are open air with no covering or enclosures, so bring a mask should you share a lane, otherwise, enjoy the great outdoors.
I appreciate your response, it's been a long time since I've researched shooting ranges this seems to be a good one and opened to all. Is it also free?
There are no fees to use the lanes or gain access to the Tillimook State Forest. Of course, nothing worth a damn is ever really free. It's up to those who use the lanes to maintain this resource. ODF will conduct improvements to the road and participate in renovations and development of new areas to shoot, but we have to keep it clean and safe. That's the price to use the lanes.
It may be closed for logging/fire hazard during the year. Here is the state page for its status.
