Pros
  • Very friendly
Cons
  • Not a lot of selection
Very conveniently located off HWY-9, reasonably priced and have had little trouble getting access to a range. Friendly staff but do have limited selection on firearms for sale.

I was there Sunday morning to have them appraise my Browning as a second opinion, they were courteous and encouraged me to do private sale instead of trade or consignment. But as an FYI for anyone looking to go soon, they had a fire in their rifle bay, someone brought in tracers, and I was told that the rifle bay will be closed for some time, but the pistol range is still open.

My wife, son, and I found the staff at Norpoint exceptionally helpful. The counter staff walked us through several rental guns. A member of the gun shop offered to let me try his personal carry. The facility was busy. But this was in part due to an event being held on the rifle range. We'll be returning to Norpoint.

After a couple of disappointing trips lately I'm starting to turn my opinion around. A few days ago I and several other customers spent quite a long time standing at the counter waiting to look at some of the handguns. No one even seemed to acknowledge our existence and eventually all of us left except one very patient fellow. I left again in my usual grumble of why do I keep trying to throw money at this place and no one wants to take it? I admit they finally are getting some guns and stock. Yesterday I decided after a trip to Cabela's I'd give them a call for a price quote and was met with someone helpful and courteous, Kristine (I hope I spelled it right). They had the item I was looking for, in stock and a better price than I expected. You can imagine my shock! Hesitantly me and my wife drove over and met Kristine who was as helpful as she was on the phone and eventually I ended up purchasing a new XDm 3.8 in .40 caliber. I have to say that it's time to give them a chance if you're looking to buy something, hopefully they do nothing but get better. Even went back today and shot my new toy and bought a holster.

I first started going to Norpoint back in 2010. Staff was friendly enough that I kept going back. Laid back enough to make you feel at home, but safety conscious enough to make you feel safe. After several months, I became a member.
The selection in the store was decent, not the best, but by no means the worst, either. Store staff (Andy, Jim and Marcus) were polite and patient. They never tried to sell me something I didn't want, nor did they question my judgement on any of my purchases.
I did become a little disenchanted with the firearm selection prior to Earl's arrival and was pleasantly surprised when the display cases were full of almost every make and model. Earl also introduced himself and genuinely cared about any of my past disappointments.
More recently, there have been wait times to use the range. To me, that is due to several factors. 1. More interest in the shooting sports. 2. The almost constant improvements to the range, building and selection in the store.
The store now maintains a great selection. Andy and Tim are more than happy to recommend components, firearms, scopes or holsters based on their experience. They also don't seem put off if you reject their recommendations.
Ammo checks still occur - but looking for steel core, AP or incendiary rounds. I've no problem with that. I've never had the staff ask to see any of my firearms except out of a genuine interest in whatever it is I've brought in - and never my carry piece.

What started out as a good experience in 2010 has only gotten better.

New to the site - and saw this thread around NSC. Like others, I have purchased several handguns and an AR from Norpoint over the last year. Every time the sale has been excellent. Good selection, fair pricing, and the process was very smooth. Andy and Tim have always been super helpful.

Have we all had pains with getting on the range in a timely fashion? Yes. Is it because there has been a HUGE surge in people wanting to do the same? Yes. Will I continue to come? Yes.

I think that any industry such as shooting ranges must all be going through similar struggles with keeping up with demand.

Earl, thanks for the candor - and - thank you for the great service we have had. One of the reasons I keep coming back.

I have purchased 6 handguns and a carbine from Norpoint over the last two years. Service has been excellent. Since Earl came on board the level of inventory and customer service has increased dramatically. The pro shop now looks like a pro shop with loads of gun inventory, holsters, cleaning supplies and all kinds of different gun stuff. I usually head up every other Monday and spend a couple of hours.

I paid a visit to the range yesterday with my wife and one daughter, and two things came up. One, shotguns now count as heavy caliber, so it's $15 a lane for members, $35 for non-members. That was highly annoying, and it seems that Norpoint isn't too interested in keeping their web site updated, nor do they post these things on their Facebook page, which they want to use as their primary source of public information (not smart, actually, as not everyone has or wants a Facebook account.)

Perhaps they should date the price sheet, stating: "Last updated a long time ago on xx/xx/xx and already obsolete, but we don't feel obligated to tell you that."

On the other hand, my carry piece suffered a fatal failure at the range, so Chris (I think that was his name) in the store was awesome in delivering into my hands a very hard to find S&W M&P9c. Top notch experience there.
