I have gone here for multiple person to person transfers and have no complaints about this place. Made the transaction very smooth and was not super busy place. Transfer fee was a little on the high side but not as bad as some other shops
This was my go-to store for years. Unfortunately, during all the Measure 114 issues, they refused to do a 3-day release. Seems like another reviewer mentioned they offered him one so they may be doing it now. Prices are a little high, but it is where I bought my first gun, so I stuck with them until they decided not to do 3-day releases.
Went to do an FFL transfer, there were two people behind the counter and helped like 5 customers at once (a few of us needed to get background checks) pretty quickly.
A little way off the freeways (access), but would be convenient if you lived in the area
Arranged to meet a seller from Vancouver late last week at another pawn shop in NE Portland. After arriving when they opened, we learned there was a problem with their FFL and they couldn't do any transfers at that time, so the seller suggested we head over to Money Market (it was a bit further out of the way for us both). Glad we did. Quick, efficient transfer, and as others noted, a pretty decent selection of guns for a pawn shop. Cost at $30 is fair compared to what some places charge, albeit a bit higher than my typical go to spots on the southwest side of the Portland Metro.
I was just here on Friday to pick up a Beretta APX. Ordered online on Monday and the gun arrived Thursday afternoon. But I couldn't get away to pick it up. Walked in around lunchtime on Friday and was done in less than 10 minutes!! I just placed another order to be shipped to them for an XD(M) and an LCP II. The comment about their handgun cabinet is spot on. They're packed in so densely that you have to be able to eyeball and ID guns from looking at just the top of the slide and locking block.
I've used them a couple times for private sales - they have always been friendly and easy to work with. I can get cheaper in O.C. ($20), but not everyone is willing to come to O.C. for a sale. For SE PDX, Money Market has been the best I've found so far.
This WAS my go to for FFL transfers as they are close to Happy Valley and have decent prices. I was just in there today to pick up a gun I ordered online. The owner Peter is a nice guy. Ive done probably a dozen transfers through them. I figured saving $5 - $7 travelling out to Tigard or Hillsboro was not worth it anymore. I definitely recommend Money Market Pawn. Check their website for coupons too for waived background check.
Edit: During the summer of 2018, I had witnessed a very unstable fellow trying to purchase his first gun at this pawn shop because his house had been robbed 2 times within a week. Had it been me behind the counter I would have said "bye Felicia", however, one of the guys behind the counter was very professional and educational to the unstable customer. I will never forget how he handled the situation as it really impressed me. Also to note, they do charge an extra fee for credit card users so just an FYI. Their prices have raised a bit since I first used them in 2011 and have now found better options locally.
I found this place when I needed to do a transfer with a seller from Washington. $30 including the background check.
After the transfer I stayed to look at their used and new guns. They have a pretty good selection for a pawn shop.
Several weeks later I was on my way to a popular gun store on Powell Blvd. and I decided to stop at the Money Market again. They had a brand new Gen 4 Glock 19 for $509, which was cheaper than I saw them at gun shows. It was brand new complete with the case, 3 magazines, etc. and I bought it on the spot.
If you are in the market for a Glock check them out.
