Pros
  • probably the best selection and prices in the portland metro area.
Cons
  • as mentioned numerous times, getting someone to help you can take a bit. When you do get service, it's going to be short and sweet.
I've shopped at Keith's for almost 10 years, and it's still my go-to shop despite being on the other side of town. Indeed, this is not a place to come in and get a bunch of information about a certain item, expecting the staff to spend a bunch of time explaining. I can only recall once when i was able to get service right after walking in....there are usually several folks ahead of you. I've also had the luxury of being able to stop in mid day during the week - weekends can be nuts and plan on a wait.

However, if you know what you want, and you've done your homework, this is the place to get a good price on that item.

At the shows however, i've noticed that due to the amount of tables they usually have, their staff expands to not just about everyone from the store, but their friends and friends of friends. This means that some of the folks there don't work in the firearms industry full time so may be limited in their knowledge of the products.

Pros
  • A lot of low priced used pistols, ESEE knifes in stock, wide AR accessory and parts range, excellent rifle selection, helpful staff, like going to a gun show without paying the fees.
Cons
  • N/A
I go to Keith's often and have purchased several firearms from them. I liken a visit to Keith's to a gun show (or the expo gun show) without having to pay for parking or entry. So for me it is worth the short drive out to Gresham.

Their used selection is I think the best in Portland, and I picked up a used P226 for under $500 from them at the last show.

Their shelves are almost always full with a lot of inventory to browse through. Ranging from Firearms, accessories, tools, holsters and knives.

Despite living on the other side of town I will happily drive out to Keith's to buy from them before anyone else.

Pros
  • lots of stock, low priced used pistol selection, helpful and friendly staff.
Cons
  • other side of town
I visited Keith's for the first time a little while ago. They were very helpful and I picked up a nice used sig from them.

Where they didn't have what I needed they directed me to someone who did.

I will buy as many firearms related items from them as I can.

Pros
  • Good prices, great selection.
Cons
  • Can be busy and you may have to wait. Distance from my house, well over an hour but I'll do it for selection and price.
Just be aware that you may have to wait for help, and don't be shy about going and asking for it. When I do get helped, the staff has been great.

Utilize email if you want to know if something is in stock and you are having trouble getting them on the phone. I have done that a few times and they either emailed me back the same day or the next day.

I am sure one of the reasons their prices are good is that they manage their expenses, which includes staffing. More staff means higher prices. I can wait a bit to save money, and I never go on weekends.

Overall, I am satisfied with Keith's, both in the store and at gun shows. Great selection and prices and you can pretty much order anything they don't have in stock.

  • grumpy guy that doesn't seem to want to order any Anderson lowers!?
I have purchased multiple items from Keith's they are excellent and for the most part their staff are very helpful. Lots of inventory and prices to fit just about any budget. They have lots of used inventory, and just about every magpul accessory available.

Pros
  • Great selection, good prices
Cons
  • Too far from Tigard
I have been buying firearms from Keith ever since I moved here. Great selection and good prices. Just picked up an HK P30sks from him. None of the shops in my area had one. Made the drive to Gresham and came home happy. I have read other reviews complaining about customer service. I have experienced great customer servie every time I have been in his shop.

  • Have alot of hard to find guns and always cheaper than everybody else
Cons
  • East portland long drive
I really enjoy buying my firearms from this place and I dont understand the hate from people on there customer service, my wife and I are always treated well and get top customer service. And the guys there treat my wife with respect. Granted she knows what's she is talking about with guns but I think people are overly sensitive when it comes to customer service. Hands down best gun shop in oregon

Pros
  • great selection, low prices, straight forward no-BS folks
Cons
  • very popular, don't go on a weekend (not really a con, just say'in)
I've made a lot of purchases at Keith's over the years and most of the time they had exactly what I wanted in stock, and at a more than reasonable price. The only time I don't go to Keith's is for a few (very few) brands that they don't carry.

I read/hear a lot of complaints about their customer service, but just be patient. They have a great selection combined with low prices, of course it's going to be packed! Plan ahead and go in on a midweek morning, that way you don't have to wait for the staff or OSP. They're kid friendly too!

Overall, I've never had a bad experience at Keith's and would recommend them to everyone.

Pros
  • I was looking for a popular riflescope. It was sold out everywhere I checked, even online there was a long backorder wait. Keith's had it in stock. And the price was 20% less than anyone else.
Cons
  • Do Not expect to be treated like most retail outlets treat people. By contemporary standards of retail customer service, this place is different.
I can put up with "attitude" for a unbeatable price and to get the item I want.

In the end - No one used profanity, I did not get beaten up, and I was free to go after I purchased the scope no one else had in stock.

IMHO, I have noticed that firearms sales people, in general, are not especially well informed about the products they sell. And because of this, I don't want a smile and a sales pitch anyway. I do my homework and make my own decisions. Also, many of the opinions expressed about different firearms & accessories are subjective anyway.

Pros
  • Great Selection at fair prices
Cons
  • Poor customer service, poor attitudes, lack of attention to the customer, wait for ever for assistance.
I had purchased about six guns from this store until I just could not bare it anymore. You wait forever to get somone to help you. There needs to be the ability to pull numbers so you can be waited on by first come, first serve basis. At one time I was handed a pistol and the guy took off and waited on a friend and left me standing there with this pistol in my hand. The last straw was when I went there to purchase a 1911A1 and was handed one with the slide locked back. I looked it over and released the slide to get a better look and feel for the gun and I was reprimanded for releasing the slide with the slide release. They stated that it was the owners choice that the customer is not allowed to release the slide that way. I handed her back the pistol and walked out. To me, it's like buying a car without test driving it. If I'm going to spent $1,000, I want to compare and see how it operates and functions. I have never had that happen to me at any other store.

Pros
  • Low prices and large selection
Cons
  • Horrible customer service and extremely bad attitude toward people.
It's like get your money out right now and buy it cause you are too stupid to talk to. Shop is crowded and you can't see the guns even when you get close to counter. Better know what you want, get in and get out because the place is not friendly. It's like cattle herded through the place. Best if you know what you want you buy it while they are at a gun show.

Pros
  • Glocks in stock, only place to procure some types premium handgun ammo. Always something unique or unobtainable just sitting there like it was normal. Been on the receiving end of some great values on pretty unique weapons.
Cons
  • 2.5hr drive, IMO worth it or I would not do it.
Purchased from the store for years. Keith's has sent items to my more local FFL's, even accommodated me by bringing requested items to several shows. I will continue to purchase from Keith's.

I don't think I am particularly lucky with respect to Keith's service, perhaps it is my slightly abrasive demeanor.

Pros
  • Huge inventory and best prices.
Cons
  • They are there to sell firearms, not to make friends and because of this, they come off as less than appealing to some folks...especially those who come in to finger fornicate everything with no intention of buying.
I have never had a problem with them because I know what I want before I walk in the door. Maria is a sweet heart for sure.

I would be nice if Keith was able to make eye contact when speaking with people.

BTW...don't blame the employees too much since Keith micro-manages even the most simple things.

  • Non at the store. Was treated pretty well when my Wife bought a pistol from them at the Gun Show.
Cons
  • Staff and owners think they are above everyone and treat you as such. and the parking sucks!
If you can avoid going there do so!!! You will have a better experience and be treated with respect as customers who are spending a fair amount of money. They really need to change their attitudes towards their customers who are the reason they have a pay check.

  • Where do I start
after spending $2600 at them over the past two months I realize now that money was really wasted. as soon as I had any problem I contacted Keiths, and was immediately inundated by yelling Angry Men really who didn't know anything at all about what they were talking about ...after letting them know that I was a veteran their attitudes still didn't change.. their are so many better places to spend money.

Used to make the drive, went in a while back stood at counter tryin to buy a $1100 bicentennial browning hi-power. Said something to two different workers they weren't busy but both told me just a min. After standing there for 10min with money in hand I went elsewhere and spent my money. Refuse to waste time on these dbags.

Ive bought a number of items at Keith's several guns over the years. Two last year! I have, apperently, been lucky, Kieth has always been courteous and helpful to me, I prefer him to his employees. They are indeed rude to people they perceive as time wasters! I be sure to know exactly what I want and I spit it out even as I'm stepping up to the staffer. Never have a problem.

I've purchased two guns there this year so far. Their prices are better than most.

  • Parking is chaotic
Owning a gun store is tough business. The folks at Keith's are exhausted and take a lot of unnecessary crap day in and day out. If you take the time to allocate yourself the time for them to provide you service, your experience will be different. Boom, bust, hostile legislature, customers who come in expecting much more than a retail transaction (I want your time, your expertise, your suggestion, your time, and a discount). If you want to pay more, Sportsman's will take your money. If you are an educated buyer, want a special order, or know what you want, Keith's is worth your time, the drive and money. Believe me, there are much less professional shops in PDX/Vancouver market.
