I've been coming to Hummel Arms for years, Terry's my go-to guy for transfers and selling on consignment. I've never had something fail to sell for a decent price at his place, and he's always pleasant to interact with. There's also usually some eclectic gear and accessories for sale if that's your thing. The space is small so the stock is always limited, but it rotates frequently and sometimes you find a real deal there. Sadly, he'll be closing his doors in a few short months, as he's decided not to renew his FFL. I'm sad to see him go.
I had a couple of lowers shipped/transferred here and Terry was great to work with. He was very friendly and communicated with me every step of the way. He called me as soon as they arrived (I got a call from him before I got the text notification from the shipping company). He is a one-man shop and takes his services very seriously.
didnt charge extra for a color copy of our IDs like TIgard Pawn does
Cons
small selection
prices were so, so
went for a private party transaction, the guy was quick and had us in and out in 10mins, keep the firearm so we dont have to meet twice, Didnt catch what he was charging for a transfer.
basic hole in the wall shop
Came up from Eugene to buy a NOS 2014 Dan Wesson Valor from a private party. We decided on Hammel to do and run the paperwork. Very positive experience. Terry was a considerate guy to work with. Everything went through fine and I drove home with a new to me 2014 Wesson Valor that had not been fired since it left the factory. I would work with Terry again.
I have used Hummel Arms for quite awhile now. Always had great experiences. That was until the last 2 times I have been there.
NEVER AGAIN WILL I SUPPORT THIS STORE.
Exhibit A. I go to do a trade. Terry refuses to do the transaction because the guy has a Washington ID but proof of residence in Oregon. He had done a transfer the day before at Tigard Pawn. We drive to A Cut Above Pawn, do our paperwork and are gone in 15 minutes.
Exhibit B This last Sunday I go to do a trade. We both have Oregon CHL's. We present the firearms 2 handguns and 1 ar pistol with a brace. Terry discusses the brace and the crappy law going into effect. I explain I recently acquired it and it was fine. He acts as if it's all good. We fill out our paperwork and he submits mine. Instant approval as usual. He then takes the guys paperwork that is getting the AR pistol and proceeds to phone a friend and asks if he should do the transfer. This muppet on the phone tells him no! He then tells us we need to remove the brace. I asked if he had tools. He says yes, takes 5 steps and starts whining about his anxiety and tells us we need to leave and remove it then come back. absolute Bs!
We go to A Cut Above Pawn and again are in and out in 15 minutes.
Terry and whatever arm chair attorney he gets his info from are worst than the morons pushing thru these Bs laws. He and this business are not pro 2a and have no interest in preserving our gun rights.
Very nice owner, always happy and willing to help with anything he can.
Great prices all around, even private party transfers.
Cons
None.
Awesome store. Found it by mistake and will be continuing to do business there with purchases and transfers. Excellent customer service. The owner truly cares about making every transaction a good experience and loves what he does unlike a lot of places that just have a 9-5'er who is just there. Highly recommended even if it isn't the closest store to you.
Terry kept a rifle I purchased from a user on NwFirearms while my background check went through. When my wife picked it up he met her in the parking lot which was dark. He put the gun in the car and then left very quickly. My wife noted it was odd. When she arrived home I opened the case and the collectors rifle was BROKEN. I called immediately but Terry claimed to know nothing about it. He later called back to tell us his janitor actually broke it. I'm the same sentence he made it clear I wasn't getting anything from him. I stayed patient and reasonable the whole time but this guy was an absolute jerk. He sent a check for $100 and told me never to contact him again. This rifle is valued at $1350 and now Is worth nothing. How is this ok? It's not! He said the $100 because he watched me pay the other party that..... not even accurate guy. I think he should have to pay for a stock but he refuses. A rifle that made it through world war ll but can't make it through Hummels shop! Hahahaha
Excellent customer service and a great place to do transfers

Pros
Customer service, low cost transfers
Cons
Limited hours and inventory
Terry is a wealth of knowledge and always willing to help or assist. I've taken a few rifles and handguns to him for scope mounting and sight installations. He always does the work while I wait and has good prices.
What they lack in availability and inventory, they more than make up with by the level of customer service they offer. Terry is literally one of the nicest individuals you will ever meet. Also, transfer fees at Hummel Arms are cheaper than most places in the area.
I recently purchased a handgun from Hummel Arms. Excellent, friendly service and a very fair price. A smaller shop with limited inventory, but a good place to do transfers as the price is reasonable, the owner is nice, and the few times I have been in it was not real busy (less likely to have to wait to get helped). Best to check their website or call ahead to confirm their hours, as I recall they are closed certain days of the week.
We met a fellow member at Hummel Arms to do a transfer, and while we were there Jeannie found another gun she wanted so she wound up buying that one too!! We got really good service for the transfer and a good deal on the second gun.
$25 total for the first transfer and he comped it for the second gun.
If you are in the area you should check them out. This is exactly the friendly, small, brick-and-mortar type of store we should support whenever we can.
