We believe the 2nd Amendment is best defended through grass-roots organization, education, and advocacy centered around individual gun owners. It is our mission to encourage, organize, and support these efforts throughout Oregon, Washington, Idaho, Montana, and Wyoming.
Nice Club, nice indoor range. Long , I think its like 1000 Yards, so there plenty of space to shoot. Some say the cost is to high, but if you want to shoot, and shoot a lot long range, guess what, it not, the ammo and other stuff will cost you way more.
Spend some time, go by and say high , great guys there.
Shot a couple of competitions here and if I lived closer I'd totally become a member. The range is always clean, staffed by friendly people, and is well-maintained. There are ranges for just about everything and the range itself is just a short drive if you're coming from the Gresham/Troutdale area.
They have a nice covered 110/200 yard range, outside pistol range, inside pistol range, and the 1000/800/600/400/300 yard range.
The archery range has targets setup from 10 to 60 yards plus all the 3D animal targets scattered in the woods for more realistic practice.
Members are friendly and always willing to help.
Cons
Always check the calendar before you make plans to visit to verify the range you want to use is open. Could be special events going on.
I have been a member for about 7 years now and enjoy the people and various ranges. There are always continuous improvements going on to make your experience better. Everyone is encouraged to help on work/maintenance days to keep the club in good condition.
Went here last year on a recommendation from a neighbor for sight in days. I had a new scope on my deer rifle and needed to get ready for hunting. All the people were super helpful and knowledgeable. I loved having the coach with the pins in the target right there. This was far more efficient than doing it alone without a spotting scope and other necessary gear.
Many different ranges for different shooting discipline
I usually use the 100-200yd rifle range, the dynamic range and I keep threatening to use the archery range.
They have put a lot of work into upgrades in the past couple years and the places looks really good. It ooked good before too, the concrete and asphalt weren't essential.
I really like the community at DDRC, maybe it's because gun enthusiasts are just damn happy at range. Also, there are a lot guys who are super knowledgeable and willing to chat or give advice.
Say hi to folks and offer to call out for a cold range if you see someone waiting around.
I don't use the facilities much due to the distance from my house, but I do go twice a month and shoot with their ladies group. It's a great facility and all the people I have met there have been nice. I usually use only the indoor and outdoor pistol areas but the shotgun area and rifle areas look pretty impressive.
First I was at the Blackpowder Range shooting my new 1841 Wesson and Prescott reproduction using real black powder poured out of an old (not a reproduction) 1826 powder horn lent to me by one of the guys. Blackpowder is fun! I hit the steel silhouette targets with fair consistancy except for that danged moving buffalo on the rope pulley. I'll get you next time Mr. Buff!
Then I went over to the trap house and shot a round of trap.
No picture...just me learning to say "pull!" with conviction.
Then I went to the indoor pistol range and shot about 200 rounds of .45acp and .38 special for Bullseye practice.
Douglas Ridge Rifle Club vies with Tri-Counties as one of the two top ranges in northwest Oregon. There is always something going on there and if you want to shoot out to 1000 yards this is the place to go. Lots of Service Rifle, USPSA, 3-gun matches..and the trap range is up and running again.
I recently spent a fantastic weekend here attending a Project Appleseed rifleman's course. Though my time was limited, what I saw of the facilities was impressive, and every staff member I met was friendly and helpful. I'm looking forward to going back soon.
