TLDR: Great little shop, they sell to the public. The majority of their warehouse is dedicated to manufacturing, which is not visible from in the shop. They make their own billet lowers and other parts. Great friendly people, glad I went in.
My Experience:
I went into Axis when a different LGS did not have the time to help me when I was looking at the suppressor case. It was a Saturday and I took out my B&T GHM9 for the first time and loved this gun. Ready to use it as my PDW, I wanted to get it suppressed.
First, of all - I do not have ANY experience with suppressors, I just do not have that background.
I left the shop I was at and did a Google search. For some reason in Spokane, a lot of shops are closed on Saturday. However, Axis was open and not too far away from where I was at. I wasn't sure they actually sold to the public since the name is "Axis Manufacturing."
I decided to head over there and see what it was about. I pull up to essentially a warehouse building. They have several parking spots clearly marked Axis, I park and went inside.
Its a small little shop, probably less than 15 feet or so to walk around. They have a smaller collection of firearms and accessories including magazines and body armor. On Saturday there were 4 people inside and was cramped. People were getting helped with different things as efficiently as possible with each person getting acknowledged but there was a wait.
When it was my turn I said, "I had no idea yall existed, I came in with some questions." Told them I just bought my B&T and wanted to get it suppressed. That I had no background on suppressors and asked what they would suggest. They spent the time to give me background, show me different options and prices points. When they asked if the GMH9 has barrel lugs, I froze since I didn't know what a barrel lug is. I told them my firearm was in the truck if I could bring it in, they let me bring it in checking to ensure it was cleared then proceeded to show me how a suppressor attaches with barrel lugs (which the GMH9 has) or screw on.
I had a couple different suppressors to choose from, pros and cons with each. In the end I went with a Rugged Obsidian 9 along with a lug mount so I can use it with multiple platforms.
They did the entire NFA process with me, e-file, prints, picture, tax stamp, etc.
The person who helped me was Kasey, the fact that he was willing to talk me through everything and not be elitist because I don't know crap is what led me to make my purchase that day.
Thanks Axis, I will go there first before anywhere else now.
Axis Manufacturing is a pretty small shop located near the Spokane County Fairgrounds. Small does not mean underwhelming here. This shop really is a manufacturer, making their own high-quality AR uppers, lowers, and handguards. They are also a contract shop for other companies that shall go nameless. They also possess the proper license to sell NFA items. They also provide armorer services for Spokane PD, Spokane Co Sheriff's Office, and a few other agencies. They are also a Glock Blue Label Dealer.
I first ran into them at the gun shows that used to happen at the nearby fairgrounds. None of the too cool for you gun shop guy here. Genuinely friendly and informative guys that just want your business. And they got it. They have done 2 AR pistol builds for me so far. Both run beautifully with no issues of any sort. I didn't buy any parts from them at all but that was not a problem. I've been in shops that aren't so friendly in that situation, so this was refreshing. They actually complimented me on my parts picks. After the pistol builds, I bought an Aero lower from them at a great price. Gonna do a 458 SOCOM build with it. This time I will be using at least an Axis handguard. I also bought a Glock 43X on the Blue Label deal. This was in June and they had them on hand! Pretty amazing considering the current climate. They also installed a set of sights on it that I bought somewhere else at no charge and on the spot. That's just good stuff.
If you are in the Spokane/CDA area, I can't recommend this shop highly enough. No disappointments, guaranteed!
