Portland and many other cities have similar laws. You're generally not allowed to shoot bb guns, paintball, or airsoft guns within city limits. Even if you built a backstop and said it was designed for airgun use, the cops will give you a ticket. Got to love the nanny state. :s0037:
Even worse, Portland penal code technically places airguns under the category of actual firearms, and all that entails:

Yes, it's true. Salem is controlled by "progressives." There a lot of things you can't do on your own property, like cutting down a tree without a permit. To get one you first have to hire an arborist to certify that there is a problem with the tree, then file paperwork with the city. If they accept the application, you have to pay the city $500 to have the city arborist inspect the tree and confirm the private arborist's report. The city requires that you have a minimum number of trees on your lot, depending on size. If you remove one and fall below the minimum, you are required to plant a replacement. The city has specs for the size and type of tree that you must plant.

Not me, of course, but someone I know used to routinely chase deer off his lot by smacking them in the butt with a pellet, till he found out it was illegal.
