points have already been made: who sells a gun to a pawn shop? and why?

- it's fast.
- it's relatively easy.
- quick cash.

not saying it's smart...

a person has two options in dealing with the pawn shop: taking out a loan and using the gun (or item) as collateral. Pawn shop tags it, and holds it in the back room. If loanee defaults on the loan, after 30 days or so, the pawn shop is free to sell the item. and I believe by law, the pawn shop has to submit things like guns to a theft background search. They can't sell stolen goods, or shouldn't. The other avenue is straight out sale to the pawn shop. Pawn shop will buy things they think they can sell at a profit. And they don't offer top dollar. But it's quick.

Pawn shops are gross. They are by definition predatory. That's what you call a business that positions to be in the right place to maximize taking advantage of welfare recipients and junkies. They all make claims along the lines of 50-60% payout for what their price would be, then immediately offer 25% once you're in the door.

To make it worse, there are TV shows that tell complete lies about pawn stores and call it REALITY TV. The one in Las Vegas pays 75-90% of retail(a lie) and the one in Detroit constantly talks about being in business to "help people"(an even more disgusting lie). And we get it. Pawn sounds like porn. HA HA! If there is a God, he will treat pawn store owners and employees the way he treats pimps.
