its all the same bubblegum squeezed from a different ***. you guys have to realize it doesn't matter who is president, the corporations and banks run this nation. your precious republicans and democrats are all bought and paid for. the winner is not the republicans, democrats or the average American, its the billionaires.

The talks have been around since 2004, when the Clinton ban expired. If it was easy to put something like that back in place, it would have been done already. Don't forget Obama had it as part of his platform, and he walked away from that AFTER he got elected.

Maybe. All of that is pure symbolism. Like I said earlier - we already have 500 million guns arround, and billions of rounds of ammunition. Those things aren't going anywhere in the next 4 years. And should the re-elected Obama go for something as silly as that, it will be quickly reversed in the next term. Gun control lost its traction.

Your attitude would do great in Australia, mate.
keep the "everything is OK" attitude and we'll see you giving up your guns.
Must be from california.

How can any sane person think that obuma will be good for the USA for the next 4 years?
He will increase programs that need to be shut down because WE CAN NOT AFFORD THEM.
We can't afford him giving everybody 10 phones.
WE can not afford Oboma for another 4 years

Yes, it is definitely a liberal conspiracy.

Corporations are indeed bad, but don't forget that it's Obama's fault :D

Paul Ryan said that the Romney tax reduction plan would provide further tax cuts for the wealthy and it would be revenue neutral. When asked how it would be revenue neutral he said that everybody's tax rate would go down and they would close "loopholes" in order to make up the lost revenue. Presumably, those tax "loopholes" would have to be those taken advantage of by the non-wealthy, like the mortgage interest deduction. So everybody's tax rate published in the tax tables would go down, but you might lose your mortgage interest deduction. Now for someone with a $10 million income, the mortgage interest deduction isn't very significant. If they lose a $100,000 deduction out of a total of $3 or $4 million in deductions (Romney gave $3 million to the Mormon Church) they won't notice. If I lose $10,000 out of my $20,000 in deductions I'm going to end up paying about double what I pay now, even if I have a slightly lower published tax rate. Ryan says he doesn't have time to explain the details. I think he just doesn't want to, and for good reason.

You may want to check those "Facts" you quote. Ryan said they would close the loopholes on the weathly and specifically said they would leave the HM(home mortgage) for the middle class alone. I would think anything to take from the rich would be right up the liberal socialist montra which also means anyone not rich will never get there either. So much for work hard with a fair shot BS from bho lips.

What do you think will happen to gun rights if he is re-elected?
Nothing. His record for the last four years is proof enough.

The idea that Obama (and Democrats in general) are hell-bent on banning the sale of every rifle, handgun and piece of ammunition known to man is one perpetuated by the firearms industry.

The only facts are these:

Paul Ryan said that the Romney tax reduction plan would provide further tax cuts for the wealthy and it would be revenue neutral. When asked how it would be revenue neutral he said that everybody's tax rate would go down and they would close "loopholes" in order to make up the lost revenue.

The rest is just educated guessing on how they would be able to lower everyone's tax rates and keep it revenue neutral.

Wheres your proof of this vs a liberal talking point

If you've been paying that little attention to the House, you deserve no response.

Liberal talking point?

NANCY FING PELOSI is the one that shut Holder down on a new AWB in 2009. On what planet were YOU living on when that happened?

Unlike Obama, Romney ACTUALLY SIGNED a AWB that is freaking insane, in 2004. I KNOW, I WAS LIVING THERE.

Get off the Fox News/NRA BS bandwagon and wake the F up. NEITHER of the two major candidates is friendly to gun rights.

Best make your choices on other issues, because there is not an inch of difference between them on this issue.

If you're too stupid to grasp that, then I give up. No sourcing or anything else I would waste my time giving you would convince you of what is already common knowledge to anyone with a grasp of the presidential race. Got vote for whomever Shawn Hannity tells you to.

You better go back and read what I was referencing before you blow a heart attack with the name calling. I was referencing the BS you were spouting about what Romney would do on tax deductions was not even talking about AWB. Can I get you an aspirin or maybe Prozac in this case. If you did not know Bold means reference to your quote. Get it???

A lot worse than if Romney is elected.
Romnuts has already signed one AWB, and his appointees in MA have crapped all over the 2A. Obama on the other hand will be pretty ineffective at just about everything if the senate is split.

Romnuts is also on record as having promised to sign another AWB if it comes across his desk. How's that feel?

NANCY FING PELOSI is the one that shut Holder down on a new AWB in 2009. On what planet were YOU living on when that happened?
On the planet where people are smart enough to recognize when legislators do things for purely political reasons.

She was at least coherent enough that day to remember the debacle that befell the dem majority following their last advocacy for Clinton's AWB. Something holder, and their new DNC chairwoman debbie wasserman-schultz have flat-out ignored.
But of course, she wasn't smart enough to listen to the vocal majority that showed up to the healthcare townhalls, and dems paid a similar price in 2010.
But I digress.

I'll give most dems points for honesty in this debate. They at least have stated in NO UNCERTAIN TERMS that they don't believe Americans should own light, reliable, powerful, self-loading firearms capable of holding more than 10 rounds of ammo. Even if they don't have "that shoulder thing that goes up," or a bayonet lug.
(we all recognize they aren't truly "assault weapons," but dems aren't that smart)

Reinstatement of the AWB, and making it permanent, is now a plank in the Democrat party's platform.
Big difference!
Huge!
They want to at least partially disarm the American people and they are shouting it from the rooftops.

Unlike Obama, Romney ACTUALLY SIGNED a AWB that is freaking insane, in 2004. I KNOW, I WAS LIVING THERE.
Wait. Hold on a moment.
You were one of the Massachusetts voters that elected the legislature that wrote that POS?
One of the Massachusetts voters that kept Ted (Mr gun control, Mr. dotgov healthcare) Kennedy in the Senate for 50 years?

And you want to blame Romney for MA's troubles with gun control?
What planet do you live on Misterbill?
One where a governor shouldn't sign into law a bill that reflects the will of the voters?
Did Massachusetts' voters vote out that legislature in the last two turns?
Have they elected people to overturn/repeal it?
Elected a governor that will sign a bill that repeals it?

Of course maybe you don't realize that states' rights are a whole different can of legal worms than federal laws and restrictions, and how they differ from the U.S. Constitution and BoR.

Please do give up.
I contend that Americans shouldn't need gun control to recognize the path that bho has set this country on, and vote him out before he can push us further down it. (Forward! [towards euro-socialism])

But your name-calling and lack of recognition of the difference the two parties have expressed in their platforms is staggeringly ignorant in light of the fact that this is a gun forum, and people are trying to discern the true intent of the politics they will support next month.

Shawn Hannity not withstanding.
Lefties have their Hannity and O'reilly. Righties have their Maddow, Matthews, Olberman AND ALL THE REST OF THE MAINSTREAM MEDIA.

One visit to Univision on Sunday evening would have proved that point to you, but you probably didn't have time for that kind of exposure to the truth.

That leads me to believe that you will, like many Americans, again support the person and party that is working so strenuously to relieve you of your gun rights.
And come in here and call us all "stupid" for taking Democrats at their word.

Despite what "Nancy F ing Pelosi" may say for purely political reasons, I'll lay odds she is overjoyed at the prospect of disarming as many Americans as she possibly can.
And now she has the platform to stand on while doing it.
In plain sight.

Thanks!
Here, let me quote that for you:
But in 2006, when Romney was planting the seeds for a run for president, he began to walk back on some of the hard-line positions he took on gun ownership in Massachusetts. First, he joined the NRA as a designated "Lifetime Member." And in 2007, he told a crowd in New Hampshire, plainly, that he wanted the NRA's endorsement.

"I'm after the NRA's endorsement. I'm not sure they'll give it to me. I hope they will. I also joined because if I'm going to ask for their endorsement, they're going to ask for mine."

Today, Romney's campaign website suggests that Congress does not need to revisit the assault weapons ban. His campaign website highlights legislation that "expanded the rights" of gun owners that Romney signed while he was governor, but does not mention the assault weapons ban:

Like the majority of Americans, Mitt does not believe that the United States needs additional laws that restrict the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms. He believes in the safe and responsible ownership and use of firearms and the right to lawfully manufacture and sell firearms and ammunition. He also recognizes the extraordinary number of jobs and other economic benefits that are produced by hunting, recreational shooting, and the firearms and ammunition industry, not the least of which is to fund wildlife and habitat conservation.
(emphasis mine)
So, we have a politician that knows his constituency,....
I'm shocked I tell you. Absolutely shocked that a politician would do the work that his supporters asked him to do.
The voters of Massachusetts wanted him to sign that bill, so he did.
And in the process made it easier to get a CHL.
Running against Teddy (Whose car killed more people than my guns have) Kennedy in Massachusetts again comes down to voters that believe in gun control.
Get over it.
Massachusetts is only one of 50, that have a separate set of rights regarding self governance. Don't like AWBs? Don't live there.
