From the Washington Civil Rights Association:

Folks, here's a snapshot of where we are today.

Fiscal cutoff deadline + 3 big bills + strategic next actions

Today is the fiscal cutoff deadline. All bills in committee with a fiscal component must pass out of committee today.

HB 1320 (Civil Protection Orders "Red flag laws") AGAINST is being heard at 9:00 today, but HB 1181 (Veteran Suicide) SUPPORT is not scheduled to be heard, sadly.

From here on out, the activity is going go be on the floor.

There are 3 big bills we're monitoring: SHB 1283 / SSB 5038 banning open carry, and SSB 5078 Magazine Ban.

Let's talk about strategy for getting your voice heard:

1) Commenting on the bills: Once the bills have been amended in committee, it basically resets the PRO and CON counts for the bill. We'll first focus everyone on commenting so we can ensure they know our position.

2) Contacting your legislators: Legislators cannot ignore your messages if you live in your district. We'll help you contact your legislators so they hear you. For those with Republican legislators, you'll thank them for their help and share your comments in hopes they can use your ideas in their floor debates.

3) We'll focus on key legislators in key districts shortly as the bills come up to the floor.

PLEASE follow along with the Easy Actions of the Day. We're trying very hard to make them as easy as possible--and as strategically targeted as possible.
