Though I mostly use boat tails, they come by coincidence as provided with the overall construction and brand I prefer rather than purposely selected for any ballistic enhancement. From my experience their primary benefit (to me) is in ease of seating the bullet but can be a deficit when it comes to extending overall length for some caliber / chamber situations with the loss of grip surface. Again, my 3 to 400 yard shooting is unaffected by such things. Admittedly I'm not a long shot aficionado nor pretend to be an expert, but I'm of the mind from reading and others, boat tails may actually be a hinderance to the very distant shooters and could be why Nosler's fall short in that application.
